I did my Master of Arts Degree at Deakin University as an international student 2017-2018, and I had an amazing learning experience at Deakin Burwood Campus. Most of my lecturers were highly knowledgeable, supportive and friendly. They honestly cared for our accomplishing our academic goals. I attended almost all the lectures which greatly benefitted me. They do have a lot of supportive services, and I have benefitted from many such services. I fell critically ill towards the end of my study period, and they supported me so fully by giving me extensions, and even emotional support. If you communicate with them properly, with relevant evidence, they are willing to support you. Under the Deakin Talent programme, they continue to support us to find jobs and advance our careers, even years after graduation. I am much thankful to my university for that. Honestly, I have nothing negative to say about them. I highly recommend studying at Deakin University to anyone.
World class infrastructure, insightful friendly and helpful teachers and staff. Well equipped library, and many such USP's.. My daughter has been studying BCS and currently in the third year.
Deakin University is an excellent institution with a beautiful campus and top-notch facilities. The law school is exceptional, with knowledgeable and passionate faculty who offer a well-structured curriculum and a range of experiential learning opportunities.
By far the worst university. Do not apply here. I did 16 units here at the Burwood campus and the admin staff and teachers are just so unhelpful. I persisted just for the sake of finishing the degree but it was honestly the biggest waste of time. These courses are inpractical and taught by narrow-minded academia who would rather rave on about their deep socialist tenets than teach course material. Most of them don't facilitate free thinking or open discussions in class. It's sad to watch open discussions declining at places where free thinking is suppose to flourish. The quality of teaching is very low - the teachers will be tangential in class about irrelevant topics and do not know how to get a class discussion happening. I had a lecturer rave on about climate change and a 'privledge' quiz when it was not even relevant to the unit material. There were students rolling their eyes in class. She was trying to lecture a class full of international students and 2nd generation Australians about 'white privledge' when it seemed that her last name was the only Anglo last name in the whole class. She was also living in one of the most expensive suburbs in Sydney. The culture amongst students here is P's get degrees. A pathetic university full of under achievers and inpractical courses. You're better off reading books and working on a skill or craft/doing an apprenticeship - you'd learn more and feel more fulfilled than doing a degree at this institution.
One of the best universities in Melbourne Australia. Attended this University 10 years ago and was fortunate enough to go have a look at the place today 29/12/2018. Obviously a lot has changed during the past 10 years. So many new buildings and new facilities for the Uni students. Beautiful environment with all modern architecture. When I visited, it was during the holidays and it was very quiet but I can imagine how it would be on a Uni day as I was in the same shoes 10 years ago. Deakin offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and one of the best Accounting and Finance undergraduate degrees in the country. It was amazing to see this place and relive the memories.
One of the best universities in Australia. My wife follows a master by research work in Biotechnology at Deakin. The university gave us a warm welcome to both of us during the week of orientation. They had organized few more events and presentations to make us more confortable in the country
I’m studying here, Master of Business Sport Management so far so good except Student Central which makes many mistakes in issuing letters and takes time when it is compared to student central at RMIT, my previous university.
I was invited by Jane Menzies to run a LinkedIn and Networking for your Career or Enterprise workshop for MBA International Students at Deakin University Burwood Campus on 14 March 2019. All staff and students were both friendly and willing to learn and engaged throughout the entire interactive session. A real pleasure to teach. Thank you for the opportunity. Sue Ellson :
My experience at deakin has been pretty good. Love the place as a learning institution but I lived on res for two years and it was way too expensive. Parking wasn’t great, they should definitely have resident specific parking included in the cost of living there, not the same pay rate as commuters and there was a lot of construction during my two year stint.
The campus is just mind blowing. Not just the outer infrastructure, but also the classrooms, lecture theatres, library, are designed too good. The best part is it’s a Smoke free campus, and you could find lot of greenery. The very first day I been here, I felt like I was in a Netflix’s Set. It’s damn fabulous campus I’ve ever seen. All the facilities provided are too useful for everyone here.
