Our business meeting goes well here at the Dancing Dog. Really great service. The pizzas and foccacias were varied and delicious. My hot chocolate is always amazing with the separate melted chocolate to make it perfect for me. Thank you again for helping make our meeting successful
Dancing Hot Dog’s The Dancing Dog is an unassuming local venue in the heart of Footscray that has recently decided to try their hand in the gourmet hot dog seen. Their entry level debut includes a modest range of dogs with a vast array of delicious topping options starting at $7.50. Firstly, to pair with tomato sauce or mustard in a long fresh bun, a side of potato crisps and a gherkin, you must choose your meat. Pork, beef, or for an extra $1, my favourite, the chilli cheese kransky. Then the real fun starts, with add ons from bacon bits and caramelised onion to mexican beans and sauerkraut, starting at .50 cents per topping. I’m not going to lie, I at first thought this dog and topping payment structure was a little odd and could end very expensively; however, this was not the case at all. I usually see places with a few pre-crafted gourmet dogs on offer, ranging from the plain and simple to the extravagant, priced from around $9 to $14. What the Dancing Dog offers is the flexibility to design your perfect creation for the same if not cheaper price than the ones already made for you! I personally sampled a pork dog with mustard and tomato sauces, and a chilli cheese kransky with sauerkraut, bacon bits, and both sauces for under $20. While the chilli cheese kransky left me wanting more fire and cheesy goodness, the flavourful underdog as it were was really the pork sausage with its well cooked and perfectly salted meat. Though, the sauerkraut was plentiful, and tasted fresh and firm even next to its crispy bacon counterpart. In true Dancing Dog style, the venue, the staff, the service, and the hot dogs have a very “mates place” vibe which is perfect for our warm west.
Quirky little dive bar type place. Great atmosphere, pool table in back and a nice little outside area too. Has regular function nights like quizzes and stand up. The patrons are always friendly and the staff too. Always an eventful night here! Also open later than most bars in Foootscray which is always a plus! They do offer food, eat in, takeaway and delivery, though we haven't tried it yet. The bar tender there while we were asking about the food also said they are cool with people bringing food in to eat there too which is nice.
Cool venue with decent outdoor smokers area. The live music room is well lit and the area for the stage and crowd is big enough to provide a great place for local acts. Awesome vegan cakes and the coffee and drinks were very nice.
Love it! Love what they have done for the community. I have seen several negative reviews from friends of staff who are upset because management put a stop to staff drinking on premises. It's a shame these comments can even be considered 'reviews' and be allowed to affect the ratings of a business which has been successfully run for a decade and a half. Most of us can't drink in our work place. Big deal. Bottom line - It's great, there's something for everyone, so get down there!
This place is great. It has a retro classic vibe to it. From the mercury draught cider on tap to the basic bar menu this is what a pub use to be. If you do come here I do recommend try a hot dogs the choice of sausage, toppings and sauces will amaze you
This place offers a multitude of good opportunities to socialise in a relaxed and homely atmosphere. Very friendly staff, a warm, welcoming attitude and a great location too! Kid and pet friendly, depending on the time of day. A lovely way to relax on a Sunday afternoon.
Unexpectedly great coffee and pastries at this local pub. Staff are always friendly and the place as a very local feel to it. Nice beer garden out back too. Must come back to try out the "pub side" of it some time.
Great little bar, not trying to be something it's not. Has plenty of character and staple selections for drinks and food. Wish there was a craft beer on tap. Great location, you generally find the locals here
There's a great beer garden in the back perfect for dogs. Staff is friendly. Food is basic pub good: pizzas, nachos, potatoe skins and such.
