Staff of B&G Hall are all friendly and supportive. I’m still a new arrival, but I heard that there are lots of student activities being held every semester. Generally quite good
Lived a few years ago, a great community with nice scene. Free laundry and bike garage, shared kitchen, library and rooms of different purposes. The best on-campus accomodation.
Agree with comments about poor administration I moved in a week before most other residents, was staying in another hall over summer, some other people - SR's BAGMA etc who were organising O-week had moved in several weeks early and the office blithely assumed I'd moved in then and charged me for several weeks where I wasn't in the hall which put my account into overdraw. They refused to pay me back the overdraw fee I'd incurred because of their error telling me I should take it up with the bank. Also continued charging me after I left
As to a Uni accomodation provider, you would have expected it has a certain level of administration/management. Unfortunately, we had been very disappointed in dealing with the administration/management team of the hall during the last 18 months: 1. Never received an invoice or receipt detailing the items of Direct debits or payments. 2. Emails of enquires were usually ignored unless chased up by numerous phone calls. 3. Terms and conditions of the contract were distorted to deny entry for the previously accepted offer and termination of the contract request as a result. 4. Misled the customer by delaying the processing of termination request and keeping on Direct Debiting the account even without the accomodation check in. 5. Once the direct debit payments were done, the money paid would never be refunded even if the refund had been justified. Would never deal with BNG Hall again even if we still have significant amount of credit in the account because of its lack of fair trading, ridiculously low level of the code of conduct, very poor internal control system. I wish there were minus 5 star to rate.
Previous Resident: If you're a first year and looking for a college accommodation, this one is great. The mindset and values this college portrays makes you become more appreciative of the hardships other people face and know more of how different cultures live. The room size is standard for colleges. Decently clean, communal kitchen, communal unisex wash rooms and a decent lounge. In comparison with other colleges, Burgman College is where law students and high achievers live. John's College is where you get crazy rowdy, drink all day but Monday, party hard and do things that you never would have done. Not so multicultural however.
We came here on Sat. The security bond was paid earlier. The office was closed. Nobody registered us as the attendant said that they "ran out of forms", and said to come on Monday. Now I have my car full of stuff and a student with the choice to leave him outside of the office till Monday, or have to rent a hotel somewhere and to pay for taxi twice to bring him and frohis stuffm the hotel to the dormitory on Monday as I have to drive back to Sydney. Nice start of the year and the service over here. P.S. I upgraded my review rating from 1 to 3 stars as 1 we were provided some locked storage for our stuff for few days 2 my son did not check the contract as his rent starts from Wed only but still there is no way to start it earlier. He lives with his friend temporarily, and rides his bike to the uni. P.P.S. After half a year I am raising my review to five stars. Actually, we like this place. It is not new, but everything is there. There is a large table - much bigger than in a previous dormitory Also, during Covid lockdown our rental fees were forfeited as we did not use the place. After returning back we got the same room.
A block is the best! We love BAGMA! Did you know that it has the second largest non-commercial kitchen in the ENTIRE southern hemisphere!?!? Go Redbacks!
Appropriately renowned for its unique culture, Burton and Garran Hall is one of the many gems of ANU. A community living experience like no other.
My Nephew is staying here and seems to like it. I like the kitchen and common room. The rooms are too small for my liking.
Global kitchen...multi cultural ambience...fully functional with all appliances and well equipped dining place
