An early start but it’s completely worth it to get to Mossman Gorge before the majority of day trippers. Our tour included the gorge, a walk through the rainforest, morning tea, boat ride down the Daintree river, Cape Tribulation, lunch and an ice cream in the afternoon. Heading up to Mossman Gorge the weather had come in and the rainforest lived up to its name. But despite the pouring rain it gave the rainforest a vibrancy and woke it up. It wasn’t always pleasant being as wet as it was but David provided us with umbrellas and ponchos to ensure we were fully prepared. As a guide, David was witty, informative and friendly. Clearly enjoying what he did and having a real enthusiasm for the rainforest and all it had to offer. Our boat driver Glenn was also clearly passionate about the Daintree and had a great deal of knowledge while making us laugh. We didn’t see any crocodiles in the Daintree river due to the time of year we visited and the poor weather, but we did see Boyds Forest Dragons and a couple of Cassowarys. The rainforest itself is beautiful and throughout the day we were treated to genuine natural beauty. Lunch was had at ‘On The Turps’ and was beautiful. Often on day excursions lunch can be a little generic for the masses but what was provided was a healthy and enjoyable meal. I enjoyed steamed barramundi while my girlfriend had steak. It’s worth mentioning how good the afternoons ice cream was too. The Daintree Ice Cream company have a host of flavours and we were treated to some exotic fruit flavours including davidson plum, passionfruit, jackfruit and soursop. Would definitely recommend this as an excursion to see the Daintree and some of the natural beauty north of Port Douglas.
We were so lucky to have a fantastic guide, Dave, just for the four of the us! Despite the downpour and lack of crocs, Dave did a wonderful job in sharing his great knowledge of the wonders of the rainforest and the crocs. Having someone genuinely taking the taking to do this really made the difference. Oh, and the morning tea and fruits were so delicious and the ice cream... but no more, I don't want to spoil it all!
We cannot recommend this company enough! We were fortunate enough to have Deano take us on our private tour and he truly made it an experience that we will never forget. He was so accommodating of our two young kids 3 and 6, keeping them included and engage throughout the whole day. The day was really well sequenced and allowed us to take in all the sights that this amazing location has to offer. Everything you could need was provided, even for hungry little mouths, all we needed was swimmers and towels for a magical dip! The Daintree Ice Cream stop was a fantastic bonus and worthy inclusion in the day.
Visiting Port Douglas for a few days and a trip to the Daintree World Heritage region is a must. While there are several day tour operators to choose from, I was sold on the Daintree Wonders Tour when reading there's no minimum number but maximum of 11 persons. It really is a personalised tour. Our guide, Justin, was prompt, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about this beautiful area's plant and animal life. Because of this, he was able to spot insects to cassowaries and everything in between. The tour's pace was comfortable with plenty of stops at Mossman Gorge for photos, morning tea, trail walking through the ancient rainforest trees, river boat ride thank you Bruce, more photo ops at the stunning beach at Cape Tribulation, a barramundi lunch at On the Turps Restaurant plus a dip in the pristine waters of their swimming hole and a giant sample of Daintree Icecream's locally grown fruit icecreams and sorbets. A wonderful day of World Heritage sightseeing that all should experience.
Justin was fantastic, his knowledge and passion for the Daintree was amazing. I am not one who is massive on tours but we got to experience so much more of the beauty of this area due to this tour. Cannot recommend it highly enough
What a great choice to go on a tour of the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation with Dean. A very personable and engaging guide with an obvious love for the area and the need to preserve the area for the enjoyment of generations that follow. We visited such beautiful environments and particularly loved Mossam Gorge, that we returned to days later. Would not hesitate in recommending this tour to others as tours are no more than 11 people. Thanks again for the great experience. Lidia and Joe. Melbourne
Our tour with Liam was amazing! Even with the rain, the entire experience was faultless. Liam was informative, teaching us so much about the rainforest lifecycle, local history of Port Douglas/Mossman and how the Daintree Rainforest came to be. He explained the Daintree blockade that saved the pristine part of the rainforest we were driving through, and had a great sense of humour which made the historical stuff really entertaining to listen to. My favourite part was definitely lunch and a swim in the freshwater creek at the gorgeous heritage lodge, followed by the MOST delicious fresh fruit ice cream from the Daintree Ice Cream Company - wattleseed and Davidson plum were my favourites! Would book this tour again in a heartbeat - 11/10
We had a great day! Special thanks to our incredibly passionate and highly informative guide, Justin. We have left the Daintree with a great experience and a wealth of knowledge for the rainforest. Thanks again!
Brilliant tour from start to finish! Justin was a wonderful guide with so much information to share. We couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommend :
