Wow. What an experience. Ate in last week and tried the sharing plates chosen by the chef. We had an amazing selection from the menu and the cocktails were just amazing. Service was on point and the atmosphere was great. I recommend sitting at the Kitchen Bar if you want to watch where the magic happens in the kitchen.
We had a great dinner there. The place is a classic Melbourne dining spot. Exposed brick walls, cool wine bar, private function room, drink carts. The food was amazing, the service was great. I would recommend this place for a date spot or a catch up with friends.
Dined here on a Thursday evening with four girlfriends. Not a large space with the bar on one side and the kitchen on the other but tables are still a good distance apart. They promote the philosophy of share plates so we opted for two starters, the asparagus and the beetroot with lentils. We did ask how much asparagus was per serving and was told 4 or 5, however, it was cut up and I don't think there could have been more than two. The beetroot with lentils was also a small serve. Even one starter per person would have been a small dish. But decides all the same. We opted for a main each with some having the flounder and myself and another having the duck. The mains were a good size and again delicious and we didn't need any accompiants. We had two bottles of wonderful red wine and the glasses were high quality and sqeaky clean. The service was good - efficient but not obtrusive and we were not rushed in any way.
We went for the chefs selections shared plates, PERFECT for a dinner date. We sat at the bar facing open kitchen, awesome experience to watch the team do what they do. Great service, everyone attentive and played their part for a great dining experience. Place was pumping at 10pm Sunday so book ahead!
Had the selection for $85 a head. Added oysters and drinks. Mains of lamb and potatoes were the stand out dishes. Honey Panna Cotta dessert was good. Miso butter sourdough bread and charcuterie were nice for entrees and starters. A few dishes I felt had too much cream long beans or cheese hence we opted to hv the tuna without goat cheese. Overall the selection was ok. It has been changed a bit over the years but still good. Hv been a fan since they opened 14 yrs ago and hv dined there many times over the years. Was too full for their yummy lemon Madelines this time.
Had the selection of shared dishes. Was an expensive treat but delicious. Felt a little veg heavy but then a huge lamb came out! :-
Delicious tasting menu with very generous portions. The main course was a 1kg lamb dish, and it is their signature. Ambience was vibrant.
Loved the menu and the wine selection, understated and classy fit out. Great vibe!
Celebrated my birthday here and was treated to such fabulous hospitality throughout the evening. The staff were attentive and friendly. We got the chef's selection for $85pp and the food was beautiful - great portions and flavours, the lamb was falling apart and the pannacotta was wobbly and creamy. Lots of wine and cocktails on offer. Would 100% come back again!
Phenomenal food. Complex and interesting yet well balanced flavours.
