Great place to stop driving through town. Fast, friendly service. Great food. Clean spacious dining room. Clean bathrooms and baby change room. Large train car park directly across the road, not many cars the day we went by and could park their caravans there while we had lunch. Also has an aus post box at the train station. Would visit again!
Good food and atmosphere. While very busy, Erin our waitress went out of her way to keep us and the other customers happy and relaxed during our stay. Well done Erin.
Went to one of their wine and dine nights, and the food was amazing. I've never visited this pub before but will definitely go back if that's the level of food their chefs can produce!! Looking forward to the next wine and dine night!
Unfortunately I think there's big kitchen problems. Our table Waited for 1 hr 25mins from ordering to receiving. The beef snity was extremely dry and over cooked. I ordered salmon. It looked fried, burnt, with little else on the plate.
Looks a great pub , very tidy , very pleasant staff , had a pint , will have to go for dinner , menue looks great .
My partner and I went for tea tonight, waited over an hour for our food, was told there was a mix up of orders, ended up cancelling, got our money back now at home with no dinner such a let down. We have been here before and had no problems but after tonight it will be a while before we go there again.
Good old fashioned pub atmosphere. Food was good and decent sized serves. Happy service and the locals at the bar were up for a friendly chat. Would I go back ? Yes.
We went to the Criterion for the first time on a recent Sunday, just as it opened. It was extremely quiet in the restaurant, no music or background noise which felt a bit awkward, and other patrons all trying to speak in whispers. I ordered the salmon with a potato and zucchini rosti and my partner ordered the rump steak special cooked medium with garlic prawn sauce. Shortly after we ordered we were told they'd sold out of rump and the alternate steak would be $5 more, but we weren't charged any extra in the end. The steak was under but my partner enjoyed it and the sauce was tasty. My salmon was overcooked and very dry, and the rosti was extremely soggy, either warmed up in the microwave or uncooked- either way, inedible. The few steamed veggies were probably the best part, although bland. Staff quite pleasant and friendly but not enjoyable overall.
Was a great pub.For our first time here its Bigger than you think.. Nice food and very friendly staff.
