I had the unfortunate "pleasure" of dealing with Peter about 10 years ago. We were lobbying for a skate park in Walter Taylor district in Brisbane. He refused to take any phone calls relating to this matter. Moreover, after receiving a letter from his office about a proposed location stating that it didn't meet specific criteria, which it did, I finally received a rather abusive phone call. Apparently, he didn't like me emailing other council members showing his response and asking for their support. He was rude, dismissive and confrontational. He yelled at me over the phone and said that no one wanted a skate park in the area, even though a petition had been presented to council. Upon Australia's first gold medal at the Olympics for skating, I'd like to thank him for his support!
I noticed a tap dripping in our local park and reported it to Peter. He responded within the hour to confirm a plumber was coming out to fix it. Thank you for being so responsive Peter!

Peter Matic misused his power as an elected representative to insist that a BCC officer ignore her findings that no further action would be taken on an enforcement notice given to me, as they did not believe it would be successful. After 6.5 years of constant harassment by BCC on a property, nearly $200,000 fighting this, we finally won in court, and received $110,000 in costs against the BCC just court costs, as the previous law bills were not in scope. The action they brought against me was at the insistance of Matic. This was told to me by the BCC officer involved as she tried to defend the indefensible action of reopening a case that had been fought and won by us through several show cause notices then enforcement notices OVER 7 YEARS. He is a disgrace and I am putting this matter to the ethical standards dept.
