The one and only downside of this store is that it isn't closer to where I live. I have to console myself that this is actually a positive for my bank balance and for my relationship with my partner. Because I'd be spending way more time and money here. This store has a cool selection of bikes and it's staffed by a friendly, passionate and knowledgeable bunch of people. One of Melbourne's great bike stores.
Highly recommend! After many recommendations on this spot, I dropped by Commuter to take a squiz at what they had & to ask a few Q’s… They were super friendly & put aside so much time to explain pros and cons of everything. They worked with me to come to a more solid decision. I went in on a Saturday for a test ride and it was love at first ride… The amazing crew talked through some upgrade options that I had been thinking of and listened to the specific aesthetics I had in mind for the ride. I wasn’t expecting to get rollin’ out of there that same day due to the addition parts I wanted fitted but amazingly the bike mechanic made it happen for me! Solid shout out to Caff, Fin, Noah and Adam! Legends. Cheers
Best cool bike shop ever!! My wife and I ordered our first bike, Neutrino for my wife and Straggler for me. They showed us the joy of riding bikes and made my life more colourful. As I’m not native English speaker, I can’t speak English fluently, but it doesn’t matter for them. They are always super friendly and provide professional services. We were really lucky to find out Commuter Cycles for our first bike. Thank you so much Adam and team! You’re awesome. HIGHLY RECOMMEND to everyone including beginners like us.
Absolute legends at Commuter. I was recommended to them a while back and have come to add to the highlight reel of glowing reviews. I have utilised their skilled services a few times now, most recently this weekend where they kitted out my partner with a new Surly and a custom wheel build for myself. Family rides are now a thing in our household. Can't recommend them enough. Cheers to Huw, Alex, Finn and team! Bloody grouse.
Absolute legends! Such an accessible and friendly space. Brought in my bike as a first time rider to put a front rack and basket on it and they explained everything super well before putting it on. A non-pretentious, helpful and friendly space which feels comfortable for even first time riders like myself who don’t know much about bikes. Thanks guys!
Great service. I ordered a part here, which arrived in Newcastle very quickly. The part happened to be defective and Commuter Cycles were really helpful and sorted it with no fuss. While the part I ordered was defective, the way Commuter Cycles followed it up and made everything happen so very quickly was fantastic. Easy 5 stars
Ordered a new bike to be built up for a purchase. Sales staff assured me it’d be ready on Australia Day. I ensured I was available in the afternoon to pick it up. The afternoon came and went. I called commuter to ask where the bike was. The staff told me “oh yeah… we went to the storage facility to get the bike, but it was locked so we couldn’t get the bike at all”. I was a bit confused as to why they didn’t call as soon as they knew the bike was unavailable. When the bike was built up, the test ride was outstanding. Then I noticed a dint on the seat tube of the brand new bike. Sales Staff offered me $200 off, then another staff told me they can’t sell it to me. They then assured me they could have a new one built up within the next 90 mins. I was very upset, but agreed to wait. Staff then told me “sorry, we can have it done by late next week.” I then decided to look into another brand of bike, and made a purchase to be delivered. I also ordered a few smaller parts, including tyres, however, no effort was made to take the sting out of my experience. I have been a long time loyal customer of commuter my purchase history in store and online should show this, however, this is reason to begin researching a new bike shop to support.
Genuine, friendly, helpful service for two beginners picking out new Surly bikes. The staff couldn't have been better, their passion and knowledge remarkable; with tips, anecdotes and just the right reassurance readily offered up. Never made to feel like we were rushed, upsold or pressured into anything we didn't need. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with Finn in particular - thank you!
Called in today for advice on saddles, grips and pedals for bikepacking/touring. Cath did an excellent job of fitting me out with Brooks, Ergon and VeloOrange. Fantastic premium gear and excellent service. Thanks for taking the time to fit me out properly. 10/10
