The Commercial Hotel is absolutely disgusting. The whole place reeks — the carpet smell alone is enough to turn you off your meal. The food was clearly all processed, lacking any freshness or quality. While the prices are fair, the building itself is falling apart and the overall experience is terrible. This place needs serious work before it’s even close to acceptable.
I went with a friend of mine on Sunday 13/July/2025 for lunch. We were there about 12.30pm. The place looked great and there was a lovely aroma in the air.nMy dear friend ordered the Garlic prawns 29.tiger prawns, creamy garlic & onion white wine sauce, served on a bed of rice and I ordered the flathead tails with chips and salad. We were at table 4.nNear 35 minutes after I placed the order I had to go and check with the kitchen if our meals were ready. Thankfully they were and about five minutes later they came to the table but the person who was serving said these items were for table 12 which I thought was a bit odd.nWhile we were eating my friend had a piece of my fish and a chip and I had a prawn from her plate with a little rice. The rice was hard and undercooked. With this we also had two glasses of wine which was nice.nI was disappointed that a The items took so long to be served b When it was served the the wait staff was confused about the table number to which I had to assure him it was in fact the order for table 4. c The rice was undercooked, this made it hardly edible and most of it was left over.nThe Commercial has good potential but they do need to pay a little more attention to detail. I would not be ordering rice there again for sure.nOverall, somewhat disappointed but has potential.
Staff & Chefs are always friendly & very helpful with dietary requirements, meals are a good size & lovely & fresh. This is one of the few reliable places for me to eat with my complex dietary restrictions.
The floor was sticky, and needed to be mopped. The curry was inedible, the meat was fatty and tough. It was either a poor cut or old meat. Disappointed not to be offered a refund, or free drink/coffee, to appease the cost of the lunch. The younger bar and wait staff were prompt, friendly and professional.
Great menu, friendly staff and good prices. Very generous serves. Too generous! I could only manage a third of my pasta.
