My grandma was there for 9 months and we were very happy with the care provided. She improved a lot during her stay. The environment was nice - good atmosphere, the food was good, the staff were very caring & supportive and the manager was very approachable.
Don't expect any kindness or compassion from these people in regards to new admissions. Especially if you have a problem with signing up for direct debits or unable to deliver them a bank cheque within 45 minutes of them demanding it on the first day of admission. Your elderly loved one will be kicked out of the place - literally. It was all about the money, not the welfare of my Dad.
My friend says she doesnt sleep due to staff constantly 'checking on' her. Does checking on a patient have to be noisy? I thought it was a matter of peeping in quietly & shining a torch - no need to waken a patient who's just gone to sleep. Radio /CD player in nearby common room constantly plays old time songs, even when no-one is there. Not everyone wants the noise intruding into their own room all day. It would have been better if nurses could shut door as the patient had had it after visiting the room.nAlso, what do you do if you need help toileting, but ring for minutes with no response? Nurse says thay he/she has been helping another patient. Maybe so, but there must be a better method of organisation, so that urgent needs are attended tonWorse still, in spite of being bedridden, she had not been washed or had teeth cleaned for several days & had been left lying in bed wearing the same clothes. A wash & change only happened when a friend noticed her condition & asked nursing staff to wash & change her friend.nIt's a vast, cavernous building. When you enter on Level 1, there's no office in sight & you're lucky to encounter a passing staff member, who is able to help you with the numerical code essential to being able to use the lift to Level 2. At Level 2, it's similarly difficult to make inquiries or be given direction.nDon't go there if you need care.
Nice home where residents are treated with respect and dignity and are fed quality nutritious food and have fun activities to do everyday. And staff are friendly and approachable.
A lovely place when your in need with friendly staff and a few carparks for the disabled which is often overlooked, thankyou for caring for my family xx
