Dined in tonight & the service was very nice. We went early so it wasn't busy. Dishes came out hot & fresh. Dining room is a little old school but large & clean. We had honey chicken, sweet n sour pork, rice & chicken & corn soup. The soup was traditionally made with that lovely thick consistency & not too salty, it was beautiful. The main dishes were a very generous size, with quality meats & very little fat in the pork. Both very nicely cooked. Only criticism is the batter to pork ratio was a bit off, too much batter. The sweet n sour sauce was sweet & nice but a bit too thick. Honey chicken was amazing, the chicken inside the batter was juicy & perfectly cooked.
Great Traditional Style Chinese Restaurant Located On The Main Street Of Laidley. Received Accomodating & Helpful Service From the Young Man At The Counter. Had the Satay Beef With Fried Rice. The Dish Was Very Tasty, With Crunchy Fresh Vegetables, Fabulous Fried Rice & Very Good Satay Beef. Have Seen & Read The 1 & 2 Star Google Reviews For Chun Lai & Some Seem Unreasonably Harsh, Such as Not Picking Up The Phone, Or Not Giving FREE Prawn Crackers !! ?? For My Visit & Meal at Chun Lai, I Was Wonderfully Satisfied With The Entire Experience. P.s Since the First Visit, I Went Back & Dined In With Family. We Had the Satay Chicken Skewers, Short Soup, Sweet & Sour Pork, Beef & Blackbean, the Mongolian Lamb, Special Fried Rice & Steamed Rice. All Were

It is one of the best little Chinese takeaways/restaurants we have been to, and the food is amazing, and very large serves at excellent prices.Food: 5/5
Amazing! Ordered take-away yesterday on my way through to Schultz Lookout. We got the Sweet & Sour Combination with Special Fried Rice. It was probably the best Chinese food I've had! Enough to share, with plenty of leftovers too. Will be back next time we are in town.Food: 5/5
Always very happy with the food here. It’s very tasty. My only critique is that they seem to have changed the spring rolls and there is way too much pastry to filling ratio now, previously I would have said these were my favourite spring rolls so I hope they change back! Definitely a great place for a delicious Chinese mealRecommended dishesKing Prawns with Oyster Sauce, Mongolian Lamb
The food is good, tastes authentic - they even do gluten free on request - we had epi pen ready just in case but never had to use it! Great service, food's always ready for collection before time suggested for takeaway, may yet try the dine-in experience. Dietary restrictions: I asked for specific dishes gluten free and they accommodated my request. I didn't check for other dietary requirements. I note there are vegetable dishes that might be suitable for vegetarians that I see on the menu, however, I haven't confirmed they actually are vegetarian.
We've just moved into the area and we asked some locals what it was like and only received high recommendations. Today we tried it for lunch, I had Mongolian lamb and my wife had honey chicken both with fried rice. The portion size was more than adequate and the tase was fresh and tasty. We took some menus and will certainly be trying other dishes in the future.
Chun Lai, always a disappointment in taste, but being the only Chinese for ks around, cave in and grab some irregularly. Luckily the fare can be vastly improved with some garlic, ginger and sauce at home, basic flavour you think a Chinese place would add........ When I'm not working long hours, I can actually make much better at home. The garlic Chicken is okay if you have the lurgy. Avoid if possible.
The food here was ok all meats cooked good but rice dishes over cooked, the service needs to be stepped up. We wouldn't go back unless there were some big changes.Food: 2/5
