Fabulous Sunday lunch today at China Ria. Great service from friendly host, and the food was outstanding. I can’t travel to Malaysia right now, but a meal here is the closest thing to a plane ticket home. I still can’t figure out though how they managed to fit the Buddha through the door though…
With traces of alcohol in my blood, that buddha statue and the vibrant colours of the decor really left an impression on me. Food-wise, it was generally good but below my expectations at that price point. The crispy chicken was dry unfortunately and the meat was bland. The soft shell crab was really nice, but my favourite for the night was actually the roti.
Good food at very reasonable prices for the city. Service was fast and quick. Portions were large and filling. Easy to share in large settings. Also a wonderful atmosphere outside for a post lunch/dinner walk. Plenty of options on the menu with chef recommendations for the day.Recommended dishesNoodles Galore, Char Kway Teow, Curry Chicken, Laksa, Crispy Soft Shell Crab
What a great experience! The food was fantastic, with us enjoying a great range of delicious Malaysian dishes. The live music on a Friday night was top notch, which included some great singing and saxophone and flute playing. Their renditions of some classic songs was awesome.
Deliciously authentic fresh food! Wow! What a delight the hot steamy food and the very large serving sizes were. There is so much value for money with the huge amount of delicious fresh food they give you. And everything is steaming hot and so yummy and fresh! The tofu dish was sweet and tangy and the tofu was silky and smooth. What a delight ! The flat rice noodles can be made vegetarian and they are so tender and delicious. My companions really enjoyed their pork and chicken dishes especially the laksa and the pork plum bites. The seating is spacious and cosy and decently comfortable , but not the most amazing. But still good enough. The service is very welcoming, attentive and friendly and knowledgeable and very helpful in altering certain dishes for different dietary requirements. The decor and ambience is warm and softly lit and very well thought out. There is a gigantic statue in the middle of the restaurant which is a very nice addition. The lychee cocktails were delicious ! We had an amazing evening at this restaurant with friendly staff, fresh hot delicious food and refreshing drinks. Will definitely be back! Vegetarian options: They are knowledgeable in being able to alter certain dishes to vegetarian friendly. And there are many vegetarian options already on the menu.
It’s impossible to miss the sight of The giant Laughing Buddha from Chinta Ria. The interior design gives out the vibe of a bustling Asian restaurant. The service was excellent, and the owner was accommodating. Food came almost immediately after we ordered. We had: - crispy chicken noodles: 8/10 - the gravy was a bit salty - soft shell crab: 9/10 - very good - beef rendang: 6/10 - the first time l tried beef rendang that didn’t taste like the Malaysian version. This version was more tomato-ey. Not a big fan - laughing belly caramelised pork 8/10 - good Maybe I’m not used to the Cantonese-Malaysian cooking style to appreciate the food here. Overall, love the vibe and service, but the food didn’t impress me that much.
Follow me for more great reviews Good spot, went for a quick lunch, the food came pretty much instantly!! Very tasty, the eggplant with sambal was really good and soft, the pork bite with plum sauce was also well done and complment nicely their coconut rice, also highly recommend the satchmo squid.
The service is very welcoming, genuinely warm and friendly. Always attentive, knowledgeable and very helpful. Serving delicious and authentic Malaysian cuisine with large portion sizes - great value for money. This is my go-to for a delicious CKT or Laksa, both always cooked to perfection. Highly recommend for authentic Malaysian food in an awesome location.
Overall a good experience. Some dishes were better than others spicy spicy, sambal okra where as others we found bland and did not get close to finishing georgias noodles, s&p squid
Was able to dine here last minute for a table of 10 for dinner back in January. Was very accommodating & the food came out fast & all delicious!
