Chiefly Library is the biggest library of ANU and is the most calming and soothing place to study. I usually come in for some study sess and quick prints.nnThe location is perfect for students even on a busy day. If by any chance you could not get your work done in the day, this place will be open 24*7 for you. Just remember times vary in Hollidays.
The staff at Chifley library are rude and unprofessional. I have tried to access services through them over the years and they react to any request of assistance as if it were a strong inconvenience to attend to student requests. I've seen Chifley Librarians shout out international students clearly English is not their first language and put obstacle blocks at every opportunity. Very disagreeable to deal with the pack of bullies that are the Librarians at Chifley Library. You stand up to anyone of them for the rude and unprofessional behaviour and they band together like a pack of wolves. They are all very bitter and angry people. I wonder if they are overworked and underpaid? Having said that the Librarians at Hancock a totally different team of Librarians are professional and lovely to deal with!
The Chiefly really good for students who would study the whole night, especially when the mid/final exam is coming. In the dawn, cleaners will vacuum the entire library floor by floor, making it a bit noisy. It makes the place clean, though. My favourite PC for study here is the iMac Retina 5K on the second level. More study places are available on the first level.
So I was just a student a few weeks ago, and at around 11:00am when this library is always open to the public, but just because my card swipe doesn’t work anymore, I was kicked out from this building rudely. As an alumni to this uni, is this really how an education providing uni should treat a past student? Besides, my printing account in the libraries has not been used up. In addition, ANU chiefly clearly demonstrates in their website they are open to and welcome the public, while somehow I still can’t access the library at 11:00am, so if there is information asymmetry on ANU side, as a past student who just wants to further study peacefully, I don’t deserve to be treated anyway in this manner.
Over all it's good and quiet with access to computers and filtered water. There's rooms for group activities and ANU Security-unisafe regularly come through to make sure we're ok and our things are too.
