I went shopping at Chemist Warehouse Camberwell last Friday in desperate need to find a last-minute present for my friend's birthday. I knew I wanted to gift them a perfume but was overwhelmed by all the options. Lisa and Sally were absolutely lovely and took the time to find out what type of perfume I was wanting, and made some great recommendations that fell into my price range. They were great at recommending what's popular but also helping me choose a nicer perfume for the occasion. They were also helpful and knowledgeable with other products and giving me multiple options to choose from to suit my health needs. What started off as a stressful experience for me turned into a smooth, stress-free experience from the nicest ladies. Definitely coming back and straight to Lisa and Sally if I ever need any help with products at Chemist Warehouse.
Painful experience when ordering an over the counter medication. Says they collect your personal information for best practice. Load of rubbish I say, there is no legal requirement to collect my name and address for over the counter medication. Never coming back here, plenty of other pharmacies that don't take your personal information to 'keep on file '.nDidn't give the option of the lottery cost brand too, had to specifically ask. Poor practices here
I purchased a solid, reusable product that you'd reasonably expect to last a couple of years. After just three weeks, the handle separated from the head/brush.nnWhen I attempted to return it for an exchange or refund, I was told I had missed the 7-day change of mind period. Trying to explain the issue to the first staff member was like talking to a wall—his customer service was non-existent. I later learned it was his first week.nnThe second staff member wasn’t any better, repeating that I was outside the change of mind window. I explained, yet again, that this was not a change of mind — I was returning a faulty product. I was told there was no policy for returning faulty items after the 7-day change of mind period. No one could get it through their head that I hadn't exactly changed my mind and do I need to return everything within 7 days due to fear the product won't last, crazy reasoning I told him!nnAfter raising my voice, they finally went to speak with the manager likely the pharmacist/owner, who also initially refused a refund or exchange. Only after escalating further did they reluctantly agree to a refund—but not before the staff member threatened to refuse me service in the future.nnAfter leaving, I contacted head office. They confirmed this was not the company’s policy. They stated the store should have simply refunded or replaced the faulty item without the argument. I was advised to lodge a complaint via their website so they could investigate and re-educate the store, noting that some stores wrongly apply their own policies against franchise rules.nnThis was my closest store, and had they checked, they would’ve seen I spend thousands with them every year. Fortunately, there are alternatives—I’ll happily shop in Balwyn instead, where the service is friendlier and likely more honest.nn Beware of this store’s dodgy return policy. Don’t accept refund refusals on faulty products. Know your consumer rights!
The worst experience trying to return a leaking fragrance purchase Made In Lab 120; dupe for Tom FordWet box when I opened it. The two fragrance women Lisa and Sally were rude, aggressive and told me they couldn’t refund me despite it being faulty. I was forced to take another bottle that I could see was also leaking. They told me it wasn’t, that the product had sucked up my leaking fragrance despite it being wrapped in cellophane!!. Took home the second bottle and wouldn’t you know it, it leaked onto my dresser. Took it back and I asked for a refund. Lisa was there again and she really struggled to even apologise or admit she’d gotten it wrong. Thank you to the manager who agreed I needed a refund. Was later in the Hawthorn store and was told by the Ultra Beauty manager Vee that her entire stock of 120 leaked and she’d sent it back, plus one of the women’s fragrances had also leaked. Completely different experience, Vee was polite, helpful and friendly. Sally and Lisa could listen to Vee and learn how customers should be treated and what good customer service skills are. Do better, be better Lisa and Sally
My elderly mother, who is in her late 60s and does not speak English, had a very upsetting experience at this pharmacy last week. She visited to purchase a few months’ supply of her prescribed high blood pressure medication before travelling overseas.nnThe first staff member she spoke to told her the medication was out of stock. However, when she asked a different staff member, she was told the medication was actually available, but they refused to sell it to her because of the quantity she needed. My mum got the prescription including the repeats from her GP. The pharmacy made no effort to verify any details before turning her away and chose to mislead her instead.nnIt’s extremely concerning that she was initially misled, it caused unnecessary confusion and stress. For someone who relies on daily medication and faces a language barrier, this lack of clarity and empathy is entirely unacceptable and very disappointing.nnPharmacies are meant to be professional, ethical, and supportive environments — especially for vulnerable members of the community. This experience left my mother distressed and unsure where to turn for her essential medication.
