Over the last 3 years I have been a customer at the Katoomba branch, during this time and my various interactions, the service provided by all branch staff have been consistently professional and friendly. I recently visited the branch with a complicated and urgent matter, I spoke with Sally on this day, she was not only incredibly professional, but went above and beyond to help me resolve my personal banking needs. When I heard that Ruth was retiring as Lending Specialist I was a little nervous, as she had been fantastic in helping me get a loan for a block of land. There was no need to be. Natalie G. Who has taken over is absolutely wonderful! She was SO supportive through the process of selling my land and buying a house. She went above and beyond and really made me feel like she was on “my team” - anytime she sensed I was a little nervous with the process in the lead up to settlement, she would be straight on the phone to me to settle my nerves. Just amazing to have such individualised support from a bank. Thanks so much Natalie!
Opened an account at the Katoomba branch this morning and was very impressed with Sally who assisted me through the entire process. Top marks for a very professional and warm reception!
Some of the staff are friendly and trying very hard to help. The others specially the manager was very rude when I asked her to make a call and know the reason my personal loan was rejected after being with commonwealth bank for nearly 10 years since I came to Australia, also have good income ,and some saving , the answer for my request to try to know why my application was declined was could be many reason, sorry we can't do much about this .... for a 10 years customer. I'm confused now, and very disappointed for wasting 10 years with commonwealth bank... Anyway after coming back from my holiday overseas I will transfers all my payments to another bank . Sorry for being not smart and wasted 10 years with the wrong bank, the only time I needed their help in 10 years, they brushed me off without even telling me the reason.
I think the service at the Commonwealth Bank is fantastic and I have been with the bank for 15 years now. It is for their excellent service that I have given them two stars. However, I was most disappointed to hear that the Commonwealth bank invested $3.9 billion dollars in fossil fuels last year and were Australia's biggest funder of fossil fuels. They are now reconsidering their environmental policy, and I really hope they realise that we need a clean energy future and this is in the best interest of everyone concerned. I would be really sad and disappointed if I had to change banks, so here's hoping Commbank opts for a clean and compassionate future!
I have banked with this branch for 20 years. They have always been very friendly and helpful. When I expressed that I was unhappy with Commbanks investments in fossil fuels and feel strongly enough to divest, I was given a very cold reception. So Unfriendly! I explained it was not personal or about their branch, but their response was icy. Commbank is the biggest funder of fossil fuels in Australia - the only one of the big banks still funding new coal projects. If Commbank cares about the future of Australias environment and customer opinions they should review their policies and attitudes.
Take the one star as a 0. Avoid this place completely if you have any intention of trying to exchange foreign currency and you're not a customer. Considering Katoomba is a 'tourist town' it's important to realise that this branch Can't.
If you are a tourist avoid this bank as the crooks CHARGE $7.50 to use an ATM. Disgraceful. USE ANZ BANK AS IT IS FREE TO WITHDRAW.

Perhaps the most helpful and friendly branch I have come across. The people in this particular branch genuinely care and go above and beyond to help.
