Cats Pajamas Backpackers (Whitianga)

Just fine for a place to stay for a night. The facilities are fairly dated and some things in the small kitchen weren't working. The private twin room is quite cramped with creaky bunk beds. The location is great as it's a short walk to the beach and the town. Popular with long term guests.

Excellent hostel! We had a great time. The facilities are clean, rooms have personality and they are comfortable. Kitchen has anything you may need, and the lounge is very cozy! It really feels like home. The manager, Grant, is really friendly and helpful. He even got a different movie every night for all of us! Definitely recommended!!

Got a private double room. The room was good with a comfy bed and clean sheets. The showers were not so good but useable. Did not use the other facilities. The place has a nice vibe and friendly staff. Guests were nice too and went out the night we stayed there.

WORST ACCOMMODATION EXPERIENCE EVER. If you are travelling and would like a good nights sleep my advice IS TO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! The service was absolutely appalling. The person in charge was drinking and rowdy all night keeping us awake. She lied to our face telling us firstly that it was quiet after 10.30pm, then it became 11.30pm and then later and so on. I then rang the owner the next day for a refund and was told "I will ring you back," it has since been two weeks and I have not heard anything although i have rang and texted multiple times.

Lovely and well equiped Backpackers near the beach and the small city- centre. The staff is very nice and helpful, and the rooms are clean and tidy while being a bit small for the amount of people sleeping there. Overall a very very good Hostel for a few nights. Would definetly stay again !

Amazing place. Stayed there for over 3 month because of work. Nice managers, really good location 2 min walk to the beach/the city/4square and a big cozy living room to meet other people. I had a really good time. :

Bed bug infestation. Hostel has good atmosphere but v dirty. All young backpackers. Woke up after first night with bites all over my body and blood stains on the sheet. However did receive a full refund and money for the laundromat.

Decent hostel to stay while exploring the Coromandel penisula. The hostel is in walking distance to the shops in Whitianga like Countdown and New World and the Buffalo Beach, and just a few minutes drive to local attractions like Cathedral Cove, Hot Water Beach and New Chums Beach. The living room of the hostel is very nice and cosy and a good place to spend a rainy day. The hostel also has a nice and chilled atmosphere. The reason I'm not giving five stars is that the dorm rooms don't have a lot of space for the number of beds in there and the free Wifi is limited to 300 MB a day.

Had a great night with my partner breaking all the rules and putting our mattresses together on the middle of the floor and fell asleep together sunburnt and with murmurs of backpackers in the background. Five Stars. Great staff and atmosphere.

Such a magical place in the heart of the coromandel with lots to do in the surrounding area. Do not miss out on this place, the vibe and layout is very cool and super welcoming. You will feel right at home and not want to leave, I know I did.
