Have stay here a few times now. There have been many many changes with management and the board. Very hard to get on the phone and a few long terms. Toilets definitely need an upgrade and the charge for showers is a bit much as it getting up there in price to stay. Over all good walking distance to town and great for family to swim in the creek.
After staying at the campsite in August for the past two years 2022 & 2023 we were looking forward to returning to the show grounds with our group of international students.nnHowever, after our arrival we discovered that the campsite was under new management and that they were not as friendly as the previous owners.nSo unfriendly in fact that when we drove back to our campsite from the town and admittedly drove slightly over the 10kph speed limit so did many other drivers the manger chased us down, wagging his finger in an unacceptable manner and threatened to evict us in front of all of the students.nnFurthermore in the evening there was a loud party next to our tents, the police were called and things didn’t calm down until around midnight. Although there was a telephone number to call for assistance we were not told when we booked in. The following morning we were expecting the management to reprimand the partygoers but instead the man in charge just chatted with them as if nothing much had happened while looking in our direction as he spoke.nnThe coin machine in the male showers didn’t work the previous evening because it was full to the brim with coins and although using a card is more convenient, none of our international students had one.nnWe can only agree with other reviews posted here. What was once a nice campground and pleasant experience had been taken over by a bunch of bullies with no manners.nnIt is not the Australia I want international students to ever have to experience again especially after having travelled thousands of kilometers and spending a lot of money. Australia is much better than this.nnThere are far more pleasant experiences to be had on the Gold Coast and elsewhere and Canungra Showgrounds is unfortunately no longer one of them.nnAvoid it at all costs.
When one thinks of Camping in the outdoors it is normally a culmination of peace, relaxation, getting back to nature and enjoying the serenity of the time. Upon entering the Canungra Showgrounds one is confronted with negative signage that could definitely have been written in a more positive manner to greet new guests. The Welcome Mat, is certainly not on the forefront agenda here. My male friends on 2 occasions had no hot water in their utilities after paying the fee for showers. Management advised and nothing resolved. Definitely not a return visit to here.
We enjoyed our overnight stay. Staff were friendly and accommodating, we arrived slightly early my mistake, and the site we booked someone hadn't left. After speaking about our preferences, she gave us advice on a site that would suit us better, we were very happy .nToilets and showers were clean. Camp kitchen was clean with microwave, kettle, toaster, and sink fir waahing. Unfortunately, the bbq on the left wasn't working and lost a $1, but the other one was good so no drama.nI would stay here again.
Some staff better than others, Clean facilities 2 blocks. Good camp kitchen nice setting. Some sites boggy. Lots of sites seem to be vacant although not available. Better than most showgrounds. Seniors discount.
