Great spot that feels like you have escaped the city. We had the Chicken Ribs, Chicken Schnitzel, Gnocchi and Pork Belly Sandwich - all were fantastic and arrived at a good time after ordering. The staff were friendly and efficient. Parking might be tricky on weekends. We will definitely be back to try other dishes. Highly recommended!
Had table reservation for 2 hours with family for lunch on a Saturday. It was nice weather, a bit of glare being out on the deck, but the roofing being opaque helped cut some of that.nnNice overlooking the hobby farm area and seeing the butterflies chilling out, and overlooking the tennis courts and cricket going on at Camperdown Oval while having lunch.nnFood prices were ok, a little high for the portion size, but decent quality. Got the schnitty, good portion size but there was not enough jus to help balance out the dryness of the chicken in the thinner parts. Good crust on the chicken though. The potato mash was a bit firm and bland, and it being served on top of the potato jacket skin made it go soft, not as crunchy as it could have been if it had been used more like a twill and put on top of wedged one corner into the mash.nnKids had a cheeseburger it came with chips that wasn't mentioned, which we had ordered extra chips, which turned out to be unnecessary, so, might be good if the menu said cheeseburger + chips, and a kids ham and cheese pizza, which was very large, to the point it was the same size as the non-kids pizza. Like, not even kidding, it used the same pizza dish/plate!nnMy wife had a tomato and prawn pasta dish which was quite nice, very decent sized portion, well balanced.nnOverall, a nice experience.
If you remember Acre you will hate the commons. Friday lunch time, very few people here and though we followed the signs to wait to be seated, we were ignored then told by back of house staff we could sit wherever. The venue is nice but the menu is very limited, doesn’t use the produce grown on site, you have to order your coffee from a separate area, and despite the emptiness the one group booking was chaos, with a large group of people left unmanaged in the middle of the space. Look, I’d come back to nurse a coffee over my laptop for several hours however the overwhelming feeling is that this is a giant waste of space in an area that is otherwise crowded and desperate for a better offering. I’d recommended you walk across the oval to one of the local cafes instead. No idea who this venue exists for.
Tasty food as shown in attached image.nnWas definitely a unique dining experience for us. An inviting and family friendly venue.nn-Stergos
On our visit, having booked for six plus two toddlers some weeks before, we were met on arrival with signs apologising that they would be closed for a month from the following day and the food selection was limited.nThere was a board listing food not available including no desserts at all.nYou’d think they might have let us know but no.nYou’d think they might adjust their attitude or service level but no.nWe didn’t want a discount but an extra side dish or bread roll would have been appreciated. Especially since they were closing the kitchen for a month.nIt’s a nice building with different areas to eat or drink.nThe decor is nice and for those reasons I give a few stars.nThe food was mostly good, never approaching excellent and menu descriptions were largely correct or accurate.
