Great food, friendly staff, and relaxing ambience. Definitely love their open cheese melts, and the coffee is full of flavour. If you're in the Chatswood area this is one of the better coffee shops to rest your feet or have a meeting over a nice cuppa. If you can splurge a bit, go for the New York Breakfast Tasting Plate - it's got everything you want for a full brekkie.
Great location. Lots of outside tables plus inside. The coffee is really good. Good for a snack or lunch, very reasonable prices. Most of all the staff are really friendly and good. Highly Recommended.
Used to be a good cafe to hangout. But food quality, seating arrangement and interior design gradually got worse from the recent few times of renovations. They have to dramatically improve in every aspect. Otherwise it is a waste of a good location. If they can’t step up their game, customers will for sure go to many nearby competitors.
Casual cafe with a touch of fine dining. We have been to the NY Cafe a few times for brunches with friends, due to its super convenient location. We find the food and coffee always really nice. We loved the recent make over, making everything tastes even better. We will definitely come back again and try their dinner, making the most out of the 20% reopening promotion till the end of Oct.
Had the scrambled eggs with feta, very tasty and filling for a decent price. Service was friendly but at times a little slow it was very busy while I was there though. Had the English breakfast tea do can't really review their coffee. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a nice sit down breakfast and/or coffee.
Ordered from Uber Eats, wasn't really sure what to expect as some have been good others very average. Pleasantly surprised by the meal. Schnitzel was golden brown and delightful, mac And cheese balls were crispy and presentation was neatly impressive. Will order again
Very rude service. Me and my husband went there once, my husband ordered a cappuccino, as for me, I'm quite sensitive to caffeine and they did not have decaffeinated tea on the menu, so I paid two dollars and ordered a babyccino. They took our order, we sat down, a lady brought me the babyccino and told me they will not serve me babyccino again. “It cost too much money to make a babyccino”, she said, “we need to use a lot of milk and the milk itself costs more than two bucks, it's just not worth it so don't order babyccino again”. I apologized and offered to give her more money, she refused and told me again that they will not serve babyccino to me because it's not worth it, then went back to work. To be honest I was a bit shocked. Babyccino are tiny, a one litre milk cost less than two dollars at supermarkets, is one litre of milk not enough to make one babyccino? I could have ordered a decaf tea but they didn't have it so what was I suppose to do? I didn't know babyccino are not for adult as I've seen in other coffee shops adult people order babyccino with no problem. And by the way the cappuccino my husband got tasted really mediocre so yes rude service plus average quality coffee. Since then we always avoided that place, but today I had to do dental surgery so my husband went there again to wait for me. He ordered, had another mediocre cappuccino. When he finished and about to leave, he was stopped by a staff and asked if he paid for his coffee. Everyone pay for their coffee as soon as they order them then they sit down and my husband was no exception. I do not understand why someone would ask such a thing. What's wrong with them?! To sum up, this place is not recommended. The coffee quality is not good, staff are not friendly and service is non-existent. And trust me there are much better cafés out there just in Chatswood area alone.
This has been in Chatswood for a while now and is one of the only chilled out coffee places around in the area. THe coffee is good and the food is too, but service is a little behind. Generally really good place to catch up with friends, with lots of young people frequenting this place, but if you're older and want some peace and quiet, probably not the best place to go to.
Went to the newly opened venue near the train station. Arrived at 12.20pm and it was only about half full. The food took over 30 mins to arrive which was annoying as I was with my work colleagues. This meant we had to eat very quickly to get back to work. I wouldn't recommend going if you are in a hurry or only have a limited lunch break. It was a very hot day so it was very warm inside as they had no air conditioning. The food was mediocre. I had the fish and chips nothing special. The salad on the side was not fresh. Others had the cajun chicken burger and the penne pasta all complaining of a lack of taste.
After a late night coffee in Chatswood? There is no place better than Cafe New York. Wait staff are incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is great, there is a definite buzz. Cafe price food but tasty and good portions. This is the original, however, they have expanded up the road to Cafe New York Bar & Grill - also worth a try.
