Generous amount of meat. Queue was long but it moves fast. Ordered roast pork. I like how they separated the crispy skin and the meat. Skin was really crispy, meat was average for me. Found the fat a bit chewy. Definitely worth trying if you haven’t done so.
Get the roast pork! The pork is good and I usually go for the classic but the roast pork is delicious. It's not too fatty and the meat is tender, the crackling is light and crispy! They're generous with the mayo and the house made pate is super flavourful. The bread holds all the sauce inside without losing it's integrity. Lastly, the ratio is good. A good amount of veges and the wet ingredients are spread evenly across the bottom of the roll which means you get a bit with every bite. Great Banh mi location!
I have found the best Bahn mi in Melbourne. We waited 20 mins queuing but it’s all worth it. They make their own bread it’s perfect combo crispy and soft. The filling s are very generous even my daughter loved the mini baguettes/ sticks with butter and pate. We ordered roast crispy pork, lemon chicken and cold meats. Best bread, best fillings and flavours. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. They don’t accept eftpos make sure to bring cash.
Bun Bun Bakery - Roast Pork Banh Mi $6 You have no idea how much I missed their Banh Mi I drove straight to Springvale right after they eased the 5km travel restriction Freshly made soft bun roll loaded with fresh veggies and crispy roast pork costing $6 only. Small price increase but quality and flavour are still as good as before. Bun bun bakery never disappoints me
I took my first bite of their Roast Pork BBQ Banh Mi and thought to myself "my life has hope" It was my first Banh Mi in Melbourne and what a great little spot to start on a whole new foodie adventure. We made the trip through to Springvale because of other reviews and recommendations and Bun Bun Bakery didn't disappoint. There was a small line outside that was fast moving and I actually preferred that to just waltzing straight in and up to the counter because it gave me the feeling that we were in for something a bit special here. We placed our order and quickly headed back to the car to devour our meal in peace. There was no seating either inside or out so it's a stand and munch kinda vibe. The bread roll is both crispy and soft at the same time and the balance of both flavor and textures in the fillings was on point! Crunchy Carrot and pickled cucumber, fried onions and just the right amount of chilli. A bit salty and a bit sweet and of course the main attraction a deliciously succulent bbq glazed roast pork with crispy pork crackling sprinkled beneath it. My pictures of the roll just don't do it justice to be fair, but I was way too focussed on getting it in ma belly Even if you don't live close I'd still recommend taking a drive through at least once so you too can add it to your personal top ten Banh Mi in Melbourne list
Best banh mi place in Springvale and maybe all of Melbourne. Always delivers quality banh mis. I recommend the roast pork and roast chicken. Roast pork is always the classic choice when it comes to banh mi. They’ve upped their pricing to $7 and it’s cash only. They don’t put much chilli when you ask for chilli.
Enjoyed a beautiful roast pork roll. Satisfying goodness. Prices have gone up to $7 a roll. A bit of a jump from $6. But a good filling, tasty mix. Roast pork was well balanced with some fat, crispiness yum. The lemongrass chicken is ok, the portion was smaller.
This is my go to place to get my Banh Mi fix. I can’t remember how many times I have been here must be more than ten times by now and the quality of their has been very consistently good and every single time when I was here, there was always a long queue into the shop. I only tried their mixed ham roll, roast pork roll, bbq pork roll and roast chicken in lemon grass roll. All were delicious and my favorite of all time has to be the crispy pork roll with crunchy pork crackling and flavorful pork belly and their BBQ sauce + the caramelized onions, just the perfect combination I had also tried most of the Banh Mi places in the Springvale area but Bun Bun stands out a lot. I was initially intrigued by the long queue and decided to give it a go one day and that was one of the best decisions I had made. Additionally to the proteins, their roll is also crunch with nicely flavor and crunchy pickles, fresh vegetables and very delicious pate. Bun Bun really knows how to put together a delicious Banh Mi. Highly recommended and please don’t let the queue to defer you from trying their Banh Mi, it is worth the wait.
Always see the queue outside the shop. Decided to try and wow... probably one of the best banh mi in Melbourne. Ordered the bbq pork mix with roast pork. The baguette is crispy and fresh. The meats are excellent. The sauce and onion are tasty but the highlight is definitely the crispy pork skin. Crunchy but melts in your mouth, if you know what I mean. Highly recommended.
It was a Saturday morning when I came and got my bbq pork roll. The line seemed to be quite long, but the line moved actually quite fast as there are multiple people serving the rolls. I bought the bbq pork roll, which tastes AMAZING and also grabbed the other purple cake roll and their sweet buns. I think the sweet buns taste alright, i was under the impression the purple coloured roll is yam flavour but actually not. Overall it's a great experience, bit far from where I live, but i gotta say their bread is crispy outside and soft i side. I had my bbq pork roll while driving and it didnt fell apart and crumbled too much, not much cleaning afterwards. Happy days
