I would have to agree with the previous review. The awards and leadership selection process is flawed with the same kids from same families receiving positions and awards and no transparency in how they are allocated. The high and middle school has some major cultural challenges with regards to racial bullying but the teachers seem to be trying their best in what appears to be a very difficult tide.
As a Graduate of Nyanda State High School the former school this was before becoming private I can see the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Comments suggest a delusional level of promotion to upkeep the reputation of the school even though it's failing students at a colossal rate. Can't really be surprised when people I've spoken to in the area said they knew, allegedly, that the local politicians at the time had already made an under the table deal with those that stood to benefit from it. Kids lives shattered, communities broken. Well, enjoy the ashes of my old school. "Forever Nyanda".. what a joke.
This school is awesome if you work there and have several children who attend the school. Why?? No school fees for employees children, it is FREE. You will also find that teacher's kids also hold the majority of leadership positions, roles in musicals and receive a good chunk of the distinguished awards. etc. The school leadership team needs a shake up. There are many couples on staff and staff with personal connections creating areas where there is a 'conflict of interest'. Generally, a very high staff turnover across the school. Also a very high student turnover. The pre prep centre is great, the primary school and middle/secondary school have been EXTREMELY disappointing. The leadership team need to listen to their families and make considerable changes that are fair and equitable for ALL students.
I attended Brisbane Christian College from Prep all the way through to Grade 12 and I loved it! The staff are so passionate and truly go above and beyond for every student; they're the reason I'm now studying to become a teacher! I was afforded a plethora of opportunities at Brisbane Christian College debating, sports, concert band, senior leadership positions, Latin, etc. which had such a positive impact on my life. The Christ centred education I enjoyed there encouraged me in my faith and connected me with amazing chaplains as well as fellow Christians. Whether you're looking to enrol your child in Primary or Middle and Secondary school, I cannot recommend Brisbane Christian College enough.
My son's been going to this school for 8 years and no bad things he said about school
Good Christian school. I started going there in Year 4 in 2007, and then I left in Year 8, in 2011. It was essentially a great journey to experience Wisdom and Knowledge through Christ in another way. To achieve and be Truthful, Excellent, Spirited, Trustworthy, and Disciplined TESTeD has thoroughly enhanced my ability, in one of the first Christian schools I have ever been to and experienced, in my life, and in Australia; in spite of certain circumstances I’ve faced Remy-Talulah Andrews, Ethan Waters, Mr Eggins, Brenden Whitlock, Braydon Chidgey, Chloe Cuddihy, throughout the years.
Brisbane Christian College provides a holistic education environment. The environment is so positive and the sense of community very strong. The values of honouring, respect, aspiring to excellence help empower the students to be all they can be. Students are encouraged to be life long learners and enjoyment and interest in learning is very high.
We have really appreciated the care and effort from all the staff to cater to our son's needs, and the fantastic community that exists among the students themselves as well as the staff. I love the flexibility and extention work that is available to make the most of each child's strengths.
One of the best schools, highly recommend.
Brisbane Christian College offers a truly faith and Christ centered educational journey for students of all ages. The College is led with a strong future vision and a passionate teaching team who place the children's needs at the heart of learning and teaching. It is a privilege to work with the school developing a literacy strategy and focusing on student achievement.
