I walked into this place at 2.10 on a Saturday and wanted to order two coffees, a sweet and a meat pie. The older guy behind the counter looked like he was the owner replied angrily : "Sorry the kitchen closed 10mins ago!" I was stunned by the reply and tone and controlled myself as I really wanted to reply and just walk out saying : "what the hell has the kitchen got to do with warming up a damn pie!?" Anyway to not cause a scene I ordered two sweets instead and sat at a table outside...the coffee eventually arrived and was really awful/ bitter, the sweets weren't great either...not a place I would ever go back to or recommend...this was the second visit and I always like to give places a second chance. I see I'm not alone when I read the other reviews.

Food: The food is very good here. It's brunch with an Eastern European/Middle Eastern twist. I particularly loved the honey oat sourdough which was top notch. They also have a lovely range of cakes and snacks. Portions are a little small, but this is reflecting in the price. The coffee was ok, but not the best. Atmosphere/service: Maybe we just got lucky, but the service was wonderful! Welcoming and friendly. Both staff members actually spent a lot of time chatting with us. It is a small cafe and space is limited so not ideal for families or large groups, but fine if you are solo or a couple. The added benefit is it's lovely and quiet. Would I recommend it: Yes, its enjoyable. Not the best Elsternwick has to offer, but it's menu is fresh and a little different and the food is well cooked. They offer a good range for a small place. It's just a shame about the coffee.

Good coffee and service, soup of the day had pools of oil on top. Decent but better joints around Elsty.

You feel like they want you to leave as soon as you're done withy your coffee and or food! Few months ago when was there whittnessed (I assume) owner being asked if they had a toilet. He said really rudely 'no' looking at the ladies like they were idiots. They said 'its illegal not to have toilets' and he barked at them 'no' it's not! It's illegal not to drive without a license". The ladies weren't doing the right thing asking for a toilet but who knows they may have bought a coffee. Was amazed by his tone, he should not be in a service industry if he talks like that.

Completely rude and disgusting behaviour from staff!! Would not recommend going here unless you want your day ruined! Food and coffee are okay but there are MUCH better places to go in the area! Also, not family friendly at all! Parents, don't even think about bringing prams if you want ro he served!
