This place is famous of cronuts croissant + donut. Hence, I usually take away their cronuts only. It’s not too bad if you never had one. Not overly sweet and keep the croissant texture. This is the first time i dine in. The environment is good. Nicely decorated with good lighting. Great for Instagram photos. However, in my opinion, their food is pretty average. Nothing worth mentioning. Their espresso is under extracted. I won’t recommend it.
Great cafe in Newtown. Love the vibe and atmosphere. Food is very delicious and nicely presented. French toast is a must-try. There’re varieties of pastries to choose from, and all of them are very nice. Service is quick and staffs are super friendly. It’s a busy cafe especially at weekends. Will definitely come back to try more dishes. Highly recommended.
A beautiful place to come for brunch or catch up for coffee. The pastry cabinet boasts all your sugary desires and the interior is spacious and full of inner West vibes. The first time I came here was for my first ever cronut experience, and it was worth the hype!
The service was quick after just 10 minutes wait. I’m afraid that’s the only positive side of my experience with Brewtown. I ordered a cronut and a vege breakfast roll. I’m not an expert on pastry but as the name suggests the cronut should taste like a croissant right? However instead of being flaky, buttery and crumbly, it was so chewy. The verge breakfast roll was AWFUL. The menu says milk bun but I’m not sure why I got sourdough breads with cheese. When the dish was served, the cheese already dried and was hard. The crust of the sourdough breads was so hard and the dull table knife provided made it impossible to cut. Then the scramble eggs were over cooked and incredibly bland. The coffee was alright but be mindful that soy milk will cost an additional $1. I understand the struggles brought by the increasing living costs and the COVID. I don’t mind paying more but I just don’t think much efforts were put into preparing my dish.
Highlights: - coffee was great! Perfectly made - green was very tasty and came super fast -floor staff service on point Downsides - sauerkraut was way to strong on the Ruben sandwich - Breaky roll sausage tasted plain and it really needs a sauce to make it like a proper breakfast. -I didn't like the behaviour of the staff behind the till. They were not very professional since they were chatting while we where in front of them waiting to pay. - Finally, they have surcharge on weekends! I've worked as a barista for four years and never saw a place that have surcharge every weekend!
We ordered Philly cheese steak sandwich, ham and cheese croissant and coffees. Wonderful. I love my steak sandwich and the pickle taste Wonderful. We brought home cronut as well. Definitely will come back
Ordered a burger and coffee for brunch. Atmosphere was great, coffee was alright, however the burger was pretty disappointing. It tasted oily and heavy, and the cheese was heated in a way that gave it a funny texture. All the ingredients in the burger did not come well together, and I was kind of forcing myself to finish it at one point.
What a great spot to settle in, have a coffee or two, and slowly make your way through all the baked delights Brewton Newtown has to offer! If I had longer I would have tried more but I can highly recommend the chocolate crossiant. Sooo fluffy and the right amount of chocolate. I was recommended this spot as somewhere I could sit down and do some writing and I'm glad I came to Newtown to experience it. The staff were lovely & can't wait to come back on my next trip to Sydney.
Poached eggs on sourdough $16 with a side of "mushrooms" $6 was extremely disappointing. The butter cube was solid - least you can do is mash it softer. The sourdough toast was mushy in the middle the eggs on top steamed the bread and the crust was so hard it almost cut the roof of my mouth when I bit into it. The mushrooms on the side came as a single Portobello mushroom. I mean look at the photo - is that $22 worth of food? Similar bread problems with the Reuben sandwich. Also, the pastrami was refried and cut thin like bacon, instead of freshly smoked and cut thick, like it should be. I understand that rising costs and rent have a follow on effect, but I wish they would charge more and maintain the quality of the food. An extra $10 isn't going to kill me, but I don't want to eat something that is going to essentially damage my mouth.
My favorite cronut shop in Sydney. In particular the creme brulee one is really nice with a good amount of cream filling. This was my first time to take away and it got a bit softer compared to eat in. So probably eat in is better if possible.
