I usually love coming here, and have been for years,  but almost every single time when I come to get some alcohol and google maps says the shop is open it is closed. Seriously, about 6 times in a row by now, or more, but tons of times in total. PLEASE try to keep your opening times accurate. It’s been like this for years now, starting around covid time. Not that fun to walk 20 minutes to support the shop and get good drinks only to find I’ve completely wasted my time and also don’t get good drinks. I literally never leave bad reviews, but I hope this helps the shop improve. I’m happy to update my review later with a better rating, but for now… Sad times.

Make sure you check if the wine you want is available at Dan’s first. Paid $32 for a $21 not on sale wine here which is a ridiculous price difference. Great for more specialty or harder to find wines obviously.

Wonderful staff, great selection!  Everyone is always so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.  There’s even lots of really funky non-alcoholic options that don’t compromise on taste or quality great for pregnancy & breastfeeding!

A great wine/craft beer/cider shop with helpful and knowledgeable staff. They have some really nice products and a good shop to get something nice and boutique to drink.

I wanted to get a bottle of wine to have with dinner, and popped in here to see what they had. I picked up a bottle of gelee and it was delish!

Helpful and knowledgable staff always happy to give thoughtful recommendations.  As another reviewers put it, there are cheaper beers to be had elsewhere. If you want “cheap beers” head to Dan’s.  If you want a fairly extensive selection of interesting and delicious booze with staff expertise to match, B&S is the go. Have found a ton of great new wine and spirits producers just by shopping here.

I am offended by your name also. If you don't think colonial wines name is o.k.for them . Stop buying them. I'm sure other bottle shops would buy them. They are not so narrow minded about a business name. Shame

After your comments regarding the "Colonial Beer Company" I will not be using your company again. I will change to Dan Murphy.  You cannot change history.  Your company which I have used for years, has lost my business. I will also tell my friends and members. It great be WOKE?

So glad we finally have a Blackhearts and Sparrows in the city. Very conveniently located in Melbourne Central, right above the train station. A small store, but always has plenty of variety, and changing stock. Helpful staff always willing to offer recommendations if you just want to explain what kind of thing you're looking for.

Good stores with a great selection of wine. I’ve actually been to this location and genuinely believe this. Bleeding hearts please leave the politics on the forums.
