Fantastic staff! When i couldn't locate the book I wanted on the shelf although showing available online, a helpful guy looked up the details, went out the back and found the book I was after. There were no cashiers as it was almost closing time, so another lovely staff member put everything through a self-service for me. Great work Big W Ballarat!

I’ve been a loyal big w customer for 10 + years and I’ve done atleast 100 + laybys, click and collects, online orders and in store purchases and despite the missing items every toy sale I still continue to come back because I’m understanding about the busy time of the year but after my experience at big w yesterday I don’t think I’ll do a layby ever again or many purchases at all. I use to live in melton and big w melton we’re nothing but kind, polite, caring, new I was a loyal customer, always helpful. Ballarat however I’ve had the opposite experiences.. firstly when I picked up layby mid / late last year they couldn’t find one of my bags and told me to come back the next day. Said they would call first but never did so I had to follow up myself. No apology when I did pick up. Everytime I’ve gone to pick up orders I’m never greeted with a smile or politeness except from one person hunter he seems to be the only polite/helpful and caring worker there . Anyway yesterday I picked up my layby which had 72 mcobeauty items in it that I brought for my twin daughters for there 13th birthday and as i exited the store I was appreciated and questions in a rude matter instead of asking politely if they can double check my order she straight away says my label only has x amount of items written on it yet my bag has more then that in it and she kept repeating that it looks like I have more then I ordered and basically was accusing me of stealing!! Which I would NEVER DO! not to mention it’s not my fault the layby didn’t stick all the labels on the back so she could have said “ sorry I need to check your order total because there’s only 1 label and your bag shows more items so sorry just give us a moment to check” instead of being rude and accusing me. I was trying to show her my order on my phone and she kept looking away and not acknowledging what I was showing her or saying. If it wasn’t for the other man who was also standing there who acknowledged what I was saying I would have had to wait longer for them as the other lady wasn’t having a bar or what I was saying and wasn’t in the slightest being polite about it and basically had a problem with me before I even approached her to exit. After having proof of purchase and being told by the man I can leave NO ONE apologised for treating me rudely and accusing me of stealing or said anything like “ sorry we just have to make sure because the labels were not all on the bag” if they had approached the whole situation in a more professional polite manner then I would have understood they have a job and need to check these things which I do understand but instead I was straight away approached rudely and accused of stealing before even checking anything and no apology for laybys mistake of not putting all the labels on the bag!! Really annoyed me especially doing it in front of my young children who I try to be a good role model for so clearly wouldn’t steal that’s not who I am because of this I am really hesitant in shopping at big w in the future because I don’t want to be belittled and treated with disrespect for doing legit nothing but shopping for my twins birthday.nnof my
Today, 7th February 2025, I purchased a foot spa. Body benefits by Conair. The box had been previously opened so I asked the staff to check it and if I could have a discount. A cursory glance by the staff member said it was all good so no discount. I arrived home to discover some parts were missing. I’m supposed to have a clip on foot brush and pumice stone but these were not there. I’m not well enough to return to the store but am disappointed with the customer service
