When we went in for the initial consultation, Gordon was fantastic, very knowledgeable. But that was the last we saw of him. As first home buyers (we made this clear) we did not know how the process worked, hence why we sought legal guidance early and prior to making any offers.
We never communicated with Gordon again, only with his other staff who came across as patronising and would inform us of what we should have had completed/filled in etc on the day it was due. I felt through the whole process that we must have been the most useless clients around until I discovered that it was THERE JOB to inform us before due dates on what we were required to do.
Not only that, on selling our place, they changed our settlement date (after we hadn’t completed a form in time – that we hadn’t known about), didn’t tell us the new settlement date (our real estate agent informed us) and then changed the settlement date again without notifying us or our real estate until the morning of the day that was meant to be settlement. And when I contacted the office to know why and could the date be changed back to the original, I was informed that she had already put in the forms, so no.
Luckily our buyers solicitor was fantastic and ended up taking care of both parties.
The team directly contradicted what Gordon had advised us on during our initial meeting and when I challenged this I was told that they would ask Gordon, but they never got back to me, again luckily I had a real estate agent and the buyers solicitor who were very competent and sorted the problem for us, because this office was only advising me on what they would have advised the other party! I will not be using this firm again.

I would definitely go back to Bickell & Mackenzie.  I needed solicitors advice for going guarantor for a loan, Gordon left no stone unturned when going through the documentation for guarantors advise.  He me made sure I knew my obligations and responsibilities before signing on the dotted line. Extremely thorough. Very happy.
