The biblical city of Bethany is a geographical focal point of historical importance, and as you walk into the church there are bibles with the maps on the inside back covers. The maps are really interesting. The congregation is welcoming. The building makes you feel like you are stepping back in time. Brunch is offered at 12.15pm, which is more like morning tea than lunch - cake. On Sunday followed by a sermon and hymns. It is still a mystery to me as to why there aren't musical instruments in the service, but I attended a sing a long with a lady playing a organ on Saturday night which was quite good. Without a younger congregation to follow the bulding itself.might become prime real estate one day. As the doctrine dictates, women must cover the head. It used to be a biblical scarf, but these days it's a hat.It used to be, as I understand it, mandatory for males to have a crew cut, and the women hip length hair. I guess if one sins one can have a haircut and look different, back then. An interesting experience, even for a non believer. For some reason unknown to me the style of the building reminds me of Armish films and stories, in America. When I first started attending church services here I was wondering how they pay for utilities bills and land rates, a reality of operating a church building because there isn't a collection plate. I was told they fund it themselves, meaning, the appointed elders of the church. Or otherwise attendees, I think can donate directly into a bank account.
