Story

St John's Cathedral is home to a community which seeks to bring the best of Anglican tradition into dialogue with the issues and needs of our day.

We strive for open-minded conversation, seek to practice inclusion, and reflect on how we might see our beliefs put into action. We want this to be a place where people are encouraged to seek God and progress their own spiritual journeys.

The cathedral itself, a renowned Brisbane landmark, serves as a magnet, where diverse people gather to worship, celebrate, seek solace, converse and learn.

We attended a Joe Hisaishi string quartet concert in the evening. The staff was very friendly, guiding us to our seats, directing us to the restrooms, and providing photo opportunities. The candlelit floor on the left side of the cathedral was romantic and elegant. A cellist provided a concise and humorous emceeing for the concert. Each piece was captivating and captivating, leaving the audience captivated and delighted. The cathedral, bathed in candlelight and music, was a sacred and beautiful sight. My family and children thoroughly enjoyed the concert.
We attended the candlelight fever event rings & dragons. It was a good event however it didn't start on time.. Took a good 10-20mins to get everyone seated. It was very warm and they only had 1 large fan at the very back of the venue but you couldn't feel it in the middle sections.nCould of done with another fan in the middle section. They also only had water available on one side of the church. It would of made sense to have a water station also on both sides so people didn't interrupt the performance.nThe music performance was amazing. Nothing to fault and I would go again.
We went to Saint John's Cathedral, for a Candle Light Fever, Phil Collins tribute last month.nThe cathedral was absolutely outstanding. Such amazing architecture, it was really breathtaking. There was a lovely night time atmosphere too and the cathedral was enhanced by the candles. There is very handy parking underground just across the road if you dont manage to get street parking and toilets on site. We were advised to bring a cushion. The pews were obviously very hard, but they sloped backwards so it was hard to even re-position yourself. My husband and I are in our 40's and we found the seating very uncomfortable so if we were going again and spending more than an hour sitting, we would definitely pack a cushion.nA wonderful experience and such a charming building.

St. John’s Cathedral is absolutely gorgeous. We attended the Candle Light Halloween Special and it was spectacular. The music was incredible and the performers second to none. Really enjoyed the experience.
