Opens early while no other shop is open. But no seating, when take away, coffee becomes cold. Only sourdough bread, if you want normal bread, not here.
I have a love hate with this place. I've been coming here for years. The sweets are amazing and the dark chocolate hot cross buns are the best at easter. The croissants and escargot can be stale or dry if you don't get them the right day and time. Only 2.5 of the staff are amazing lovely humans. The newer ones are usually extremely unfriendly making it uncomfortable to be there. Today I was told I can no longer bring Albert in while I order my food to take away. This happened infront of 6 plus other people. I have a severe anxiety disorder why I have a dog I bring everywhere and it was my birthday treat to come in to get a chocolate tart after having a really horrible day. I would have been ok if they had come out and told me privately but this was so embarrassing. Although the girl who told me is one of the good ones, I don't blame her. I know it may seem pety doing this review but nothing I have said is untrue. I stopped getting coffee here because unless the guy is making it they have been burnt and gross. I am sorry I won't be going in here anymore. It became a routine and a nice place to go chat when I was at my lowest. But after that experience I can no longer endorse this as a good local place. Photo attached is a dark chocolate ganache tart. I love these and will miss them. But my waistline won't. Goodbye
If you're in to bakery, this would be the place in St Kilda! Vast choice of pastry and do come early or they might ran out of your fav pastry. Thumbs up!
Excellent coffee, cakes and pastries are to die for!
Oft overlooked amazing coffees pair amazingly well with the pastries and breads that always exceed the expectations you have before entering. While there is room for one or two customers to have their spoils onsite, it's probably best to grab and go. Lots of places to people/nature watch nearby.
I never expect such a bad quality of bakery. I order a croisant and ask if this one was fresh and they assured me it was. However, it was dry, stale and impossible to eat, frankly speaking, the worst croissant I ever ate. I tasted it, went back and asked them again whether it was fresh and they kept lying. I just let the croissant there and left-didn’t even asked for my money back. I would never recommend this place.
Love the coffee here but the service is just so intentionally dismissive, it's borderline rude. Everyone can have a bad day but after 3 weeks of coolness, I thought the staff member today might just throw the coffee over me, as she was clearly so hacked off with something when she brought it out. Not a word, smile or eye contact, not a please or thank you at the till. Coffee was still great though but this does not uplift you in the morning.
Bought their expensive pannetone for Christmas. $48 for a smaller than average size and was extremely disappointed, it was dry and bland and very overpriced. Never again. I thought at that price it would be delicious but those on offer in major supermarkets are far superior and cost a quarter of the price.
Great bakery. They cook the bread onsite the night before, people walk past with mouths watering! Portuguese tart and hot cross buns are delicious, as so is everything else too!
Amazing fresh pastries in cute little shop. Employees are always super friendly and effecienf, while being patient with silly questions about their delicious pastries. 10/10, please visit.
