Story

Backpack OZ and the Guest House is a family run and operated backpacking hostel, located in the woinderful city of Adelaide, South Australia.

Out of hundreds of backpacker hostels in the country, Backpack OZ has been rated in the top ten hostels in all of Australia by Hostel World customers for the past four years!!! We are by no means the biggest but come and see for yourself why we are voted the BEST !

Enjoy Happy Hour at the bar, catch some sun on the rooftop or chat to fellow travellers in the beer garden… There is plenty of choice at our top rated hostels.

Had a great stay here, rooms where reasonably priced and had a sink with mirror in it very handy. Common room was comfy and bar service was nice. Short 10 min walk to get to Rundle Mall and is next to a dominoes, very convenient! Staff were nice and check in was easy.Rooms: 5/5
Absolutely loved this hostel. Offered affordable private room with clean bathroom and toilets. Kitchen offers stove/oven, fridges space to store and cook food. Everyone cleans up after yourself. Great beer garden and location excellent. Staff very freindly offer so much info. Would definitely stay again.
The best and cleanest Hostel in Oz I've been to. The rooms and all areas are cleaned daily. The beds are comfortable. Lovely people, friendly and helpful staff and the Karaoke Sessions were funny. Would always prefer to stay here than in bigger ones! Rates are good.
Clean hostel with cozy atmosphere! Lots of kitchens’ equipment and comfy sofas and beds! Stuff was friendly! Been here a couple of weeks and felt at home! Good central location!Rooms: 5/5
Lovely clean hostel with a chilled out friendly vibe. Free breakfast and good free vegetarian dinner three times a week. TV with Netflix, X box and pool table in common area.
Hostel well located and with nice staff. Room stinks a bit. Bathrooms are clean, communal area is cool with a pool table and big TV with videogame. Locks in the room are too small, you barely can fit a backpack, so everybody ends up leaving your stuff on the floor. Worst parts: 1 noise coming from the bar/communal area, sometimes past 10pm 2 horribly squeaky bunk beds 3 told a staff that there was a couple staying under my top bunk bed, she replied "ahh", and did nothing about.
We were 3 people staying in a double bed bunk bed room for two nights. At departure we had to bring down the pillow case, linen and cover but the duvet and the cover remained..we were wondering how often they change that! Kitchen is open until 9.30pm, breakfast is good but be fast before milk is used for the cornflakes. Otherwise you get bread and three sorts of jam. toilets were partly rather not clean especially not downstairs. Upstairs was good. I give 4 stars as everything was comfortable, 3.5 stars are more accurate when you stay downstairs and have to use the facilities there.
Nice people and and good atmosphere. They organise dinners so we can all spend some time together. Plus the guest house is very quite and perfect if you need to rest. I recommend
Nice hostel. Centrally located, yet away from all the craziness. Overnight parking near the hostel is easy to find. Able to walk to the busy parts of town where all the restaurants are. Friendly staff. Wifi is weak I stayed in the dorm room. It worried me because it was right next to the lobby where a lot of people were socializing and working. But sound insulation was really good! Had a good night's sleep
First time to stay in hostel with shared bathroom. Friendly staff, strong & instant hot water shower. Free bbq on Tuesday is bonus, get tenants to mingle around. Location not bad, 15 min walk to Central Market / China Town, 15 min walk to Rundle area. Pleasant experience.
