Paid these guys to flush my auto due to a very intermittent flaring when cold between 3rd and 4th. Straight after the service, the gearbox was shocking. The car would completely loose power when taking off and going around corners. My wife refused to drive the car any longer. The response from Auto One was "If it's on the way out, a flush makes no difference".. and "Sometimes you get away with it, sometimes you don't". They provided me with an estimate to replace the gearbox. Rather than replace the gear box, I decided to take a day off work ( I am self employed, so a day lost earnings ) and drive the car to Whangarie to a specialist. They found the gearbox was 2 litres low on trans fluid!. They added 2 litres and the car drives perfect now. I approached Auto One with the news and showed them the findings from the automatic mechanic. I was very calm , stating it was important this didn't happen again , I was not demanding a refund or angry. The response I got was beyond belief. They questioned the number plate to see if it was the same car, they kept stating it could not have been them. The closest i got to an apology or acceptance of fault from management was "Maybe our machine needs calibrating... but then again, we do hundreds of these". "It can't of been us.. we would have checked the levels" .. etc etc It felt like I was being accused of lying to them.. I even stated.. "Well I can assure you, I didn't drain 2 liters of trans fluid out.. if that's what you are implying" In the end , the manager said ( in a pretty angry manner), The best I can do is offer that for your next general service, we will provide the parts at cost" (I should add, I never once asked for a refund.. I assume this was his strange way of apologizing?) I went in , wanting an apology and maybe an offer to refund the cost of putting things right again. ( heck I paid them to do something and had to pay someone else to fix it..) All I got was denials, them blaming equipment and semi accusations that what I was stating couldn't possibly be right. They actually seemed angry that I came in and told them about this. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Keep away..
