Story

The Ashburton Pool & Recreation Centre is owned by the City of Boroondara and is managed by the YMCA. The YMCA is the leader in Community and Recreation facility management.

The Centre offers a wide range of sports and fitness opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.

Memberships are available to suit all individual needs. By investing less than a couple of dollars a day, you can improve your overall health, fitness and happiness.

Visited the centre with my family and loved how family-focused this sport venue is.nIt has a 25m lap pool, small kids’ pool plus water slides, and the staffs were friendly.nClean, well-organised and perfect for casual family swims — will definitely recommend

We just celebrated my daughter’s 9th birthday here on Saturday. The staff/hosts were nothing short of amazing! They were great with the kids from start to finish. They were so helpful and genuinely caring about everyone having a good time.nnThe venue itself was perfect for our size party and the fact that it is winter meant the main area was not overcrowded. All of our party loved celebrating my daughter’s birthday here.nnThanks team!!! We will be back

 Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre nI joined the Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre in January 2025 and have probably only used the facilities about 15% of the time. It is a bit on the expensive side, but I know I need to make more of an effort to take full advantage of everything offered. Overall, it’s been a good experience.nnAfter six months, I’d also like to mention the best personal trainer / gym instructor I’ve met — Natalie. She’s incredibly attentive, motivating, and always pushes us to make the most of our sessions. She has truly made a positive difference in my fitness journey.nnHowever, I do have a health and safety concern. There are a couple of poles near the entrance that seem potentially hazardous, especially when entering from the side. My daughter is currently in the Salmon level swimming program and we’ve had a really positive experience thanks to Nichola, who is an amazing instructor.nnHowever, the facility itself really needs upgrading. Many parts of the pool and surrounding areas feel old and worn out, especially the small water play area, which looks quite tired and outdated. The programs and staff are great, but the condition of the centre no longer reflects the quality of the teaching.nnHopefully the facilities can receive some attention and investment in the future.

A HALC local checking out other options on the Boroondara Leisure Centre Membership:nPool and Gym smaller but lots less people and facilities very nice
