Little need be said of Ascot station other than its magnificent neo-Georgian design reflects the wealth and opulence of the surrounding town. Those visiting the racecourse should, however, be advised that on-board train facilities are limited for horses.
There is a waiting room for those who can't stand the cold weather. There's coffee shop to grab hot drink and there is a rest room.
The experience encountered here was mixed, the station itself was good with heated waiting room with seating, toilets, atm, taxi drop off points etc., plus an enclosed connecting footbridge with lifts. The station booking office however was unmanned on our visit, resulting a general state of confusion as not everyone was familiar with having to use the machines to book & pay for their tickets. This situation was much alleviated by the 2 fantastic & efficient members of staff who were on hand to give assistance and advice with processing ticket transactions. Overall a positive experience here and the train was right on time!
Pretty decent station, not anything amazing considering it's located in one of the most well-known places in the UK however get's the job done and has good connections to London, Reading and Guildford direction. My only complaint would be that sometimes the trains leave early like by 30s which can sometimes be annoying if your a typical British person who watches time to the minute rather than the second and is normally late.
Myself and my partner/friends walked to ascot station today following a day at Royal Ascot. I had my walking stick with me as I have long term mobility problems. As we were queuing for the Reading platform, my partner and I realised going to london would be a more convienent route to go back home as I was beginning to tire. We saw other people using the stairs so thought it would be okay. We spoke to a man in a high viz  jacket and asked if we could cut through to use the stairs to access London trains as it was too far for me to walk back to the London waiting area. The man told us no despite me politely informing him it would be too far to walk and we had seen other members of public using the stairs. I am extremely disappointed with this service. As someone with a long term condition I expect to be supported and accommodated along my journey and was not, and it was pretty cruel to see other members of public using the stairs when we were told not to.  It is very discriminatory to not let a disabled individual use facilities that would make their journey more accessible and quite frankly a slap in the face that other people were allowed to use the stairs and yet someone who struggles to walk far was not allowed to. The walk back to the London platform was jam packed and full of people making it hard to walk with my stick. We had to get a taxi from the station instead as I was unable to stand for much longer following the walk back to the London platform. A sour end to a lovely day out.
Clean and tidy if you are disabled the trains do not wait for you and you have to wait for a lift
Well maintained and pleasant station. Used the toilets which are always a chance when travelling by train and to my surprise they were spotless clean! Should be used as an example of standards for other stations!
The new footbridge connecting the platforms with lifts helps alot and is appreciated however, the station is really overcrowded during peak and even worse during the Royal Ascot event. No ticket barriers here and a limited amount of ticket machines. Toilets and seating are available at the station as well as a taxi rank, ATM and drop off/pick up point at the front of the station.
Its alright, this station is quite small for a town quite well known as Ascot therefore it will be packed full in the summer... the staff are generally helpful such as the ticket counter lady, however the security guards are extremely rude and tend to stare a lot !
I was on a train from Waterloo which got delayed en route, I need the connecting train from Ascot. By the time we reached Ascot the train had gone. Many of us rely on that train to get us to work or school on time. I got to the platform and the train departure board still had the connecting train displayed, so many of us were very confused. There was no announcement of any kind and no one on ANY of the platforms to ask. I had to go to the ticket office, where the person was very unhelpful. Next train for my destination is is another 40 mins wait ?! Thanks Mayte!!!! Useless!
