I was a student at this school and I wouldn't recommend it. While it has a large number of great quality resources and most of the teachers are top notch, the school's huge focus on reputation is ruining the mental health of it's students.nnThe school's upper management seemed to enjoy pushing down on students rather than letting them be kids. I remember for the last day of Year 12, my friends and I tried putting up innocent sticky notes all over the school. We looked behind us only to see the entire student services team taking them all down. This kind of approach to behaviour management is going to be the downfall of this school. This focus on controlling the students rather than allowing them to enjoy the last years of their childhoods is never going to work for long.nnI will give this school credit where credit is due. I enjoyed my high schools years enough that now I am doing a Bachelor of Education to become a high school teacher. But learning about proper behaviour management and pedagogical approaches has made me realise how wrong this school's approach is. The students fear the admin staff. No school should run off of fear.nnMy advice to this school would go as follows: good reputation will come naturally. You can't force it, so stop trying. This is a school, not a company.
honestly, students are mean, teachers aren't too bad but they do NOT do much about bullying. all of the other lower reviews are exactly what this school is like
The way this school ruined my mental health and the amount of vapes and bullying is so bad I think that the school is ok only if you are considered popular but otherwise it’s draining
I wish I could give it 0 stars. I was horrifically bullied by teachers and students alike. Physical emotionally verbally. The school treated my mother disgustingly and repeatedly belittled her and just blatantly had no respect for her. Why? Because she did everything she could advocating for my mental health and for any kind of support. The way they treated her was unacceptable. Had to leave the school because it was such an unhealthy environment for me and my family. We are not the only people who have had this exact experience at Applecross Senior High School, I know personally of others who were treated the same way. The school may be wealthy and respected, but is that really deserved?
0 out of 10 stars on yelp. If you send your kid to this school, prepare for them to be crying themselves to sleep. This school is appalling when it comes to “dealing” with bullying issues. Will support the OFFENDERS side. Teachers are rude and grumpy, most, not all head coordinators are incredibly disrespectful and have a power obsession and absolutely love getting the wrong kids into trouble whilst letting the kids who have done the wrong thing, off the hook. Do not recommend this shiet hole.
