The Anzac Memorial stands stunningly in Hyde Park. The building will not be missed. It is very well-maintained with rich histories from the war. Definitely worthwhile to spend some time browsing through the museum to learn something about the past.
A fantastic memorial space in a great location. I’ve walked past it so many times in my life but only went inside recently. Definitely worth a visit. Thanks for doing a great job in keeping their memories alive.
Hard not to get emotional when visiting this magnificent tribute to those that have gone to war on our behalf. The people are helpful, and the displays are wonderful. You’ll spend time walking silently between exhibits, reading about the history of people, places and events. And if you take it all in as a contributing foundation of your life as it is now you’ll be appropriately humbled. Job well done.
A must visit place for all the historians and history lovers. Pretty much clean and the museum below has tons of artifacts and priceless possessions from various wars. There's also a very beautiful display of soils from in and around NSW. There's also a store from where souvenirs and other showpieces can be bought within reasonable prices. Overall a must visit place if you are a History lover and in and around the Sydney CBD.
The memorial is located at Liverpool Street end of Hyde Park. This ornate large monument stands alone in the park and is a constant and wonderful reminder of sacrifices of the Anzacs to our country and lands beyond our shores. The lower ground exhibition gallery is accessible via steps or a lift from the upper level. It's highly informative and contains military armaments, attires and mementos from Anzacs past and present.
This was a really moving and informative experience. The work done on reimagining this monument is incredible, the designers have struck the balance between reverence and education perfectly. The wall monument with soil samples from all the registration posts is beautiful as are the soil samples from all the locations where ANZACs have served. The statue at the top of the stairs is breathtaking and the calm and stillness created by the fountains and water features really makes you reflect. The museum/education section is of a really high standard and so informative, not only for WW1 but throughout history. Finally, the staff were amazing. Kind and calm, they gently offered their assistance and were great with the children in helping them to understand what they were looking at.
A wonderdul memorial space in a great location. Super friendly staff. Hard not to get emotional. I wish the world full of peace without any war. I am an American tourist visiting Sydney for a few days, and I visited the Anzac Memorial as part of a self-made walking tour that also included the Australian Museum, St Mary's Cathedral and the Art Gallery of New South Wales. All are free to visit and the Anzac Memorial is a solemn memorial to pay homage to the veterans of Australia's foreign wars. Not only is there a large building housing an eternal flame for WWI victims but also a wading pool and underground memorial, which is not to be missed. The Anzac Memorial is open daily except on Good Friday and Christmas Day.
Beautifully maintained and interesting displays. Nothing in comparison to the one in Canberra but well worth a visit if in Sydney. Entry is free.
