Amazing staff, willing to go the extra mile.Every single person working at Animates Porirua has such a genuine love for animals and customers, they do a really great job of making you feel like family. Since getting our new puppy they have provided us super helpful advice. Even forgot our towel for the dog wash today and Ella gave us one from her car! Absolutely love this place and would definitely recommend. Thank you so much guys!
Have come in here a numvr rog times this year regarding purchases of fish tank, fish and other aqua related items. Every time is a hassle, the staff on act rude and claim to not have any education or idea on fish, tanks ect. Had a awful experience this morning trying to buy a fish stand staff should all be educated on the items they sell do better animates will not be back
This store is pathetic, when you can't tell your dog to sit in a commanding voice, didn't hit dog or anything, we where told we were shouting at our dog and asked to leave. I do dog training and this is how we are told to use our voice, my dog can get worked up and we need to use a stern voice to calm him. Maybe they should be trained in dog obedience.
I have been to this store a few times. I am always asked to the point of feeling interrogated about the fish in my fishtank etc. While I understand the questions is designed to give better advice, the last time I went to find something to manage the algae bloom in my 20L tank I was told it was due to the 10 guppies in the tank. The advice was to reduce the "stock" to 4 guppies, or buy a larger tank. I was not happy with the advice and did my own research, bought a small UV filter and ran it for one week. The algae bloom was sorted out 100% and the tank returned to normal. Animates does not stock these UV filters and the staff does not seem to know about their existence. Photos attached was taken about 8 days apart.
This shop has gone to the dogsexcuse the pun... it used to have good service but the staff now seem uninterested and under trained.....as for the dog wash system, what a joke
Great place to get pet food. They have a good range of products and staff are friendly and helpful
Relatively new cat mum to 2 kittens, boy and girl, 7 and 8 months. I went in to get feliway and left with that, and a bunch of advice and tips from the SM. Male was having some teenage trouble and female was becoming a bully, implemented the advice and turned on the feliway and he is like a new kitten, calm, playing, independent, she is just back to her normal beautiful self and they are back to being besties! No expensive upselling just awesome good old fashioned advice and tips! Tbh got more info than at the vets Very impressed and will be back.
Be very careful buying a fishtank from these guys started leaking after 2 years of use and then the light started flickering, tries to return the product and was kicked out of the store and was told they were going to call the police,couldn't actually believe it. Fyi the light cost $350 and the tank $600
Much improved stock holding, looks a lot tidier and cleaner. Customer service was ok.
Conveniently located and well stocked Pet shop. We got some useful insights when we went looking for Goldfish. And we have a right sized acquarium and some happy goldfish. The staff is pet friendly to say the least :- We don't have dogs but seems a popular place for the dog -wash!
