My wife ordered lunch at 12 o'clock off menu that had gluten free items labeled. Waiter returned to say that they had run out of gluten free ingredients. Didn't offer the menu again and suggested that she choose a cake from the cabinet and offered no alternative. This place used to be accommodating for celiacs . New management is not accommodating. My wife discretely asked to speak to management and was told they were to busy to speak with her . Used to love The Angel but you have lost us now. Not good enough.
The waitress was really unpleasant. A very cold look, not smiling. It was like the waitress was looking down on us. Food was OK, good even, but the atmosphere and service left a bad taste. We went to have a pleasant time, but it was not pleasant at all. I spoke to what appeared to be the manager, but she did not apologise or even seem very interested.
Absolutely ridiculous experience .customer service was awful. No aircon running in hot summer day. Plus they said can't open the windows because they are gonna close in about hour.cook need some cooking lessons . Waitress need to learn how to communicate with customers.i seen other people walking out while i was there unhappy how they were not welcome cause they turned up at 3 .30 and cafe shuts at 4 pm . I do not recommend this place to anyone .I'm rating it one star cause there is no option for zero star
I am sorry to say I visited the cafe for the last time today.Went to the cafe this morning and as it was raining the out door area was to being used and there was around 10-15 people inside and still took over 15 minutes for someone to serve me. The young man taking orders did not know what cakes were and were not available...gave up on that. When the coffee arrived it was nothing like anything I have ever been presented with at the Angel Cafe before - very very disappointing. Unfortunately the cafe has been slowly deteriorating in service and quality over the last 12-18 months and today was the last straw.
I was very disappointed with my meal on Friday evening, but I was even more disappointed with the attitude of the waitress serving our table. I had a steak on Turkish bread and I could not eat it as it tasted off. I had eaten one portion which wasn't great but edible, but other portion was really awful, tasted as if it was off. The attitude of the waitress was I thought disrespectful, when I told her, and she told me that it was the same piece of steak cut in half. Basically couldn't care. Not good enough! It cost over $23 for that inedible meal. I will not be dining there again.
Drove all the way from Brisbane with my wife today and met up with my daughter who lives hours away to have breakfast at this cafe. Sat outside with only another couple of people seated outside and waited. Finally my daughter went inside to grab menus, but they refused to serve us as we didn't have a booking despite ample outdoor tables empty and without reserved signs. Needless to say we were dumbfounded and left. Won't be returning.
We had breaky there on Sunday as a family. The kids pancakes were rock hard and the adult meals big breaky and bacon and eggs were cold. The food just generally seemed to lack love and the finishing touches. We did mention to the waitress that the pancakes were rock hard and they did replace it for us. We used to love Angel but I'm not sure we will be back.
Wont be returning, 3 strikes and out. First time the 'fresh water jug' had a half chewed piece of bacon in it. 2nd time our orders where served 20 min apart. Today was the final straw. Sat out the front, no other patrons for 15 minutes without a menu, despite being greeted by a waitress upon seating. Ordered our food promptly....55 minutes later our food arrives just as we are about to give up and leave. Despite several 'its on its way' 3 other tables recieved their food before us. Steak sandwich finally arrived, cold of course. Electronic issues apparently. Not good enough. 0 stars
Awful! Words can't really describe how bad it was. The Angel Cafe use to be one of my favourite restaurants, but what happened?! The menu reads very well, modern takes on classic dishes. Thats pretty much were it ends.... When you have "To Share" bruschetta on the menu, that comes out as a single small slice of ciabatta topped with cherry tomatoes and balsamic reduction? While the flavours where there, $14 for that small slice to "share"... And its worse to say, that tiny slice of bruschetta was by far the best dish of the night. For mains, the Rib fillet.... Cold, sinewy, absolutely no seasoning. Herb roasted potatoes... no herbs, and yes cold, the jus.... watery and lacking depth of flavour, wilted butter spinach, you guessed it, cold, no seasoning, watery mass. And then dessert. Wow. Its harsh to say, but truthful, to the chef on the pass that sent our meals, needs to undertake basic training in cookery ASAP!! When your menu reads "cherry compote" and what you get is Glacé cherries out of a homebrand packet... or the cream that is faux cream from a can... or god for bid the "chocolate gnash" that was anything but, as it was waaaaayyyy to hot to actually have chocolate in it or the chocolate would have split yes thats a tip for the chef at the Angel - take note, and it tasted like store bought chocolate topping they have microwaved! All that before I get on to how the heck it took 40+ minutes to assemble these from Homebrand packets when there was only 3 other tables in the restaurant... Won't be going back!
We waited 30 minutes to be served. After 20 minutes of waiting for 3 cups of coffee we told the waitress we were leaving. She just shrugged her shoulders. Will never go there again.
