Aitkenvale Auto And Dyno

I couldn't recommend Aitkenvale Auto and Dyno more if I tried. I have always used them and never had any issues, the girls in the office Shannon and Alison are so lovely and the boys will always say hello to you if walking by. Always happy to give advise or point you in the right direction for other services that they do not provide in shop.

I couldnt recommend this company enough. Not only great services on my vehicle and my husbands over the years. The customer service from the team is tops, they make you feel like family even though you might only see then once or twice a year.

Honest and great service. They will go out of their way to assist you from safety certificates to servicing your car or modifying your engine for more power. They have an an onsite dyno to tell you all. Highly recommend them

Aikenvale built and tuned motor. 4500km later after they purchase and installed new injectors for me and tuned it for high boost after run in tune (1200km). Motor ate it self. Went back to them 4 times before this happen (due to it not running right. (Cold start had to use accelerator pedal to stop it from stalling)). Got told it was fine every time (told it was not pinging or knocking on dyno cause the knock box told them it wasn't even after i complain about lean afr's and a weird metal on metal grinding noise. (60 deg intake temps)). Motor blew head gasket, melted big chunk out of head. Melted 2 pistons (cylinder 1 and 2) pit marks in both cylinder 1 and 2 ( knocking and pinging its head off literally) and melted a cast iron block. (Pic in comments) i drove the car to work and back (almost 60km aday there and back for 5 months before this happen only had a dozen or so full throttle runs before this happen) last run before this happen it was in there shop for around 2 weeks (i took it in on a trailer cause i was that scared of driving it) and got told that its fine to give it a boot. Few weeks later after they returned it i went out with mates for a run and had a race for 80km/h to around 180ish and it coughed twice and before i could back off/push clutch in it lossed all power and started to run like crap. Luckily i was only just down the road from a servo so i rolled into the servo and thought it was the spark plugs (that they replaced before tuning it) so i put new plugs in. Didnt make a difference. So got a mate to bring his car trailer out (230am) and tow mw home. Dont a comp test on cylinder 1 0psi. Cylinder 2 0 psi. Dont a leak down test on cylinder 2. All the air we put through cylinder 1 came out cylinder two spark plug hole. Assuming it was just a head gasket removed head and found it haf done alot more damage that me and my mechanic mate's had thought. Tried to tell ian what had happen. He pretty much didnt want anything to do with me at all at that stage cause i did take it to him to get it fixed. (I can replace a head gasket with a mls gasket and arp head studs (that they couldnt find even tho i told them they are available but need sight modifications cause i wanted them fitted before tune)) i asked if they where willing to help fix the problem they cause. And in the end he tired blaiming it on me playing with the tune (and i didnt toutch the tune) after i said thst he said it was all to do with a bad batch of fuel. (So why didnt any of my mates 600hp+ cars blow up using the exact same service station i use that week (bp 98 accross for dan Murphy)) i asked for a safe tune that i could go to the drift days, burnout comps and to the drags at Mackay. Also said that it use to make 175kw before they built the motor (same turbo exhuast, intercooler just forged pistons and bigger cam) $8000+ for that work. And if it makes 10-15kw gain from going from 20psi (175rwkw) to 22psi (185-190kw). Do it. Add another 2psi (24psi) and if it maks another 10-15 kw do it (195-205kw) keep it but dont go over 200kw cause my box and diff wont take much more than 200kw. Ian took this to mean i wanted 200kw out of it and pushed it to 25psi (192kw) so thats 5psi and 17kw gain from 20psi and said it was safe and i can give it a boot. Even after the 4 times i took ot back complaining it wasn't right and making funny noises. He said its not the tune (motor) im not mechanic and trusted him and what he said. (He did build the motor so should know what it can take) 2 runs 5 minutes appart and this happen. This is my review of this work shop. Iv spent over $12,000 with this mob and they wouldn't even try and help me when something this bad goes wrong. Cheers ian. You did help with a few other things. (Changing thermostat cause it started getting hot after you retuned it) even tho it was perfect before you retuned it. Cools start was perfect. After your retune. Not at all. Went from feeling like a normal car to a car that had huge problems. In simple terms. Would not recommend. Thats my opinion. Make up your own.

Best place in Townsville and believe me I've been to a few ... Great service every time and fantastic prices :) love the down to earth communication :) they go the extra mile to remember you and your car :) nothing bad to say :)
