Zealong tea estate is a beautiful setting for high tea. I’ve been twice, once in a beautiful sunny day where my friends and I sat outside and enjoyed the views as well as the food. The second time was recently to treat my mum to high tea. The weather was miserable but we still had a great time. The inside seating is great. I’ve tried their vegan high tea and their signature high tea. The meal did us for lunch easily. You get one tea bag of your choice but it makes about three cups of tea. You get about 4 warm savouries, 4 cold savouries and then petite four dessert ones. The desserts are great, and you can order them as a separate piece if you’d rather get a lunch menu item. There is disabled parking really close to where you go, though inside there are some stairs in the dining area so you’d need to tell them in advance if you had mobility issues.
It was the most beautiful experience. The quality of service and the high standard of presentation and the taste was exquisite. I had the braised beef and the opera cake. Both were presented well but the braised beef was the best I have ever tasted. The price reflects the quality of service and food but is not extreme. If you can afford Lone Star you can afford this wonderful experience with better surroundings. A place for a special celebration or a quiet date. You have to try it then go to the shop. Loved the tea and cup so much I got one for home.
Lunch at Zealong. We started with the crayfish ravioli which was amazing. The surprise was to find piece of decent size crayfish underneath the ravioli. Usually it is done with a crayfish mousse encased inside the ravioli and the sauce is so amazing. Next we had baby lamb rack which as tender, moist and succulent cooked to your preference. Delicious. And again the sauce was amazing. Next we had the chocolate cake with sago which was an unusual combination but worked really well together. We also had the blood orange terrine which was wonderfully fresh and light. I would say that this lunch was of a very high standard and thoroughly enjoyable. The chef changes the menu often so it pays to go soon to try out the menu. Parking: Easy parking
Delicious High tea, Good views of Tea estate. Book a table in advance and can taste your desired tea and purchase. Sculptures are great too. Good one off experience for party. Family friendly place. 10 from Hamilton.
I’ve always loved Zealong’s high tea, always makes a Sunday morning feel posh and fancy. Food, tea and view were exeptional. However, the hostess who I regret not asking for a name was not the most pleasant to deal with. I only wanted to be seated outside. She said that all tables were booked and I get that. But after asking that one innocent question seemed to throw her off and her attitude really put us off and almost feel like she did not wanted to serve us. I get it, being in the hospitality sector is not easy. But Christ, can you not be like this? sigh.. all the other staff were amazing. Wished she would just let someone else take over it she was having a bad day. Edit: I did booked ahead of time but there were no options of selecting seats. Overall, I am not unhappy about the seating. I am unhappy about the service from the hostess. Thank you for passing this along to the team.
Our 3rd visit to this place of serenity. Last 2 visits, we ordered the high tea menu. This visit, we tried out the 2 & 3 courses menu. Our salmon was cooked to perfection, fish was moist with crispy skin, the slow cooked lamb shank just right, the chicken was very tender. Not to mention the King Prawn entree were yummy too. Only wished the tea would come as free of charge!! Definitely an excellent place to show off NZ fine dining with a view to our overseas visitors!!
Amazing tea estate with beautiful gardens and exterior. We went there for lunch and the food was simply divine. We really enjoyed ourselves. The waiters were also very nice and accommodating.Food: 5/5
What a great open day. Beautiful setting on a winters day. Loved the factory tour and finished with a very tasty lunch box and a favourite cup of fire and ice tea. Hope we can come to a summer picnic later this year
Great place to visit if you're in the region. We had their high tea which was delicious. Food was very fresh, had a nice range of flavours, and was just the right amount. The tea was very nice, and it was cool to have your own pot of boiling water to top it up. Their bathrooms didn't quite match the quality of the dining area, and the bathroom had ran out of soap. I mentioned it to them but ten minutes later it wasn't topped up. Lovely views over their tea plantation.
We had an amazing experience for my sisters hens do. Firstly having high tea at the tea estate and then going back to the guest house for games. The guest house has amazing views and is so beautiful! There are many rooms to hire to include a big group. Would highly recommend booking your next event here !! Thank you to Arif for helping me book this for my sisters special day.
