TLDR - Pro: Large portions, great plating, fast service, smells great from outside, pricing is reasonable. Con: Not enough staff on to serve as primary host; no dedicated bar manager; sauces need just a bit more for dishes. On entering, there was no one to welcome us as they were all busy at the bar. Took about a minute to be seated to our reserved table. Host/waitress served us with menu and specials, and also, prompted the waitress for the drinks menu. Once drinks menu came, water was served. Ordered the Angus Fillet, Beef Ribs, seasonal vegetables, along with two wines. Customer Service - no one was assigned to any particular section. All waitresses and waiters served us, service very fast, smiles, follow ups, all very efficient service. Food was actually good. Only thing to say would be both the ribs and the fillet need more sauce to enhance the flavour for what it is advertising on its menu. The restaurant should have a dedicated bar manager for its busier peak periods, especially on long weekends. Service dips a bit when all host/waitresses/waiters are jumping on to the bar yo clear the queue. Otherwise would recommend this place for a good feed.
Lovely find for an unpretentious dinner with the family. Fresh produce, great cooking, good portions, reasonably priced. The tomahawk steak was done nicely & kumara chips so moreish. Served up good wine. We left with our bellies filled & hearts happy
Greatly Saddened. Our first experience was so amazing here a few months ago and today was just SAD. From no one to greet customers at the entrance, to the ridiculous lengthy wait time. After almost 40 mins of waiting from the time we ordered to receiving our meal. Food finally arrived with fries looking like they have been fried, and fried again. We asked for fries to be replaced. My poor SMOKED salmon had its skin smoked off. The hubby recieved his steak still mooing, not medium rare at all. By now you reading this must be thinking what a complaining sod, well, we were starving by now, with 3 young children. We literally had no patience to get what was on our plates fixed. To top it off, the understanding team came to offer dessert on the house, which we had to tell them we already had paid for through the table QR code system. Seems like they thought we were sitting around waiting for freebies after dinner. We paid around $160 and regretted walking in today.
Good restaurant & big portion sizes. Beef ribs were OK, but have had better. They were tender but a little bland. Other family members happy with their meals. Staff were nice & restaurant had a good feel about it
Visiting from Canada. Came in for a quick bite to eat before we headed to the Zorb. Small and clean space. Very clean bathroom bathroom which is a bonus. Staff was very friendly and food was delicious. We had the all meat Platter which includes ribs, beef brisket, mussels, fries and Cole slaw. Platter was enough for 3 to 4 people. Great place to try if your in the neighborhood.
The wings were great but everything else was pretty bad. Steak was over cooked, 'seasonal veg' were boiled broccoli and carrots. I loved the wings but wouldn't go back because everything else was disappointing. It was $100 for two people.
I've never said I could cook better than a restaurant, but this would be a first. Lamb back strap loin was missing half the ingredients, and what was served was very unappetising. Overcooked lamb, served with two limp asparagus on cold beetroot hummus. The burger was asked for veges instead of fries, but was missing cheese and bacon, was dry and overcooked, whole the veges were completely overcooked and soggy. $37 for lamb and $24 for less than average food was well overpriced, but judge for yourself from the pictures. Staff were very friendly and served quickly and were apologetic when I explained what was missing, but didn't do anything about it. Overall, felt very expensive for below average food. Would not recommend
We chose this place as it had fish and chips. The chips ok but the fish was not very fresh. It was one time visit and next time we will choose other places prob. Service all ok.
We had a nice dinner here. Service was really friendly and good, drinks and garlic bread came quickly. Mains about 20 mins. The menu looked amazing and it was hard to decide! Garlic bread had barely any garlic on it but was gorgeous slices of grilled ciabatta. We had the beef burger and the hangar steak. Both super tasty, but unfortunately both a bit over cooked. Burger patty was a bit dry and not pink and juicy in the middle. Chips were really yum though and brioche buns are always a win. The steak and jus was tasty also, but over done. I asked for medium rare and it only JUST had the slightest hint of pink, and the edges were chewy/tough and overdone. Next time I would order rare in the hopes of more pink. The veges were quite crunchy, the potato gratin was yum! The jus was tasty and it would have been nice to have an extra little ramekin of it to dip into. Espresso martini could have had a hint more sweetness/vanilla for flavour. Decor was nice and cleanliness seemed good too, overall a bit mixed but we would return! Want to try the 11 hr brisket and the corden Bleu!
We used to be returning customers always satisfied with our brisket, but our last visit this week was deeply disappointing. We each had what was advertised as an 11hour-slow-cooked brisket for $34; it was so fatty that all the 3 of us had to throw away at least one-third of it. Each time before this week it was just perfect and fell apart properly in the mouth, this time it was really not cooked long enough, for sure not even 6 hours, let alone 11. Calamari was not fresh either. Especially sad as we stopped by in the afternoon to give them notice and they still super underdelivered. Will not return again. Afterwards I saw all the other bad reviews on here - how did this place go this deep downhill?
