Horrible care.nnI went to the ED to get an ultrasound at 330pm. I asked if it would be possible or if I should come tomorrow. The reception told me they would be able to do it that day. On her advice I went through ED. She lied.nnI was in ED until 9pm. The nurse took a faulty blood test that needed to be redone. She attempted to put a cannula in me with the injection kit sitting on the hospital floor. I specially asked for a butterfly needle for the first blood test. The nurse said they didn't have any. She lied. I wasn't offered food at all from 3-9pm.nnWhen I returned the next day I was sent away by the ultrasound tech because they have no space. I was told multiple times by staff they are understaffed to run the hospital as an explanation for poor service and misinformation.nnThis was $815 as an overseas visitor for the worst care I've ever received. I am still in undiagnosed pain with no options for care within 4hrs of the next hospital, completely alone in a foreign country. Shame on New Zealand.
Just wanna say thank you so much to Te Nikau Hospital. Esp to Dr. Ed & team. Appreciate all that yous do.nThe true superheros!!nn
My partner was having a bad reaction to some antibiotics she had been prescribed suffering from nausea, vomiting, stomach and back pain and tightness in her chest and abit in her throat. She was triaged near on straight away and told the nurse she was in 7 out of ten pain and wasn't offered any pain relief. We were told as soon as a bed came available we would be taken through. 4 hours later and watching a few people go through almost straight away when they turned up she was balling her eyes out due to the pain increasing to a 10 out of 10 and no nurse to be found, I had to ask the receptionist for something and an hour later the nurse brought out 2 tablets of panadol for her. At this point I was over it and lay down on the floor to sleep. 4 hours and no more pain relief later a few more people had gone in and come out at this point we have been here for nearly 8 hours and gotten nowhere we were both tired hungry and extremely sore and grumpy we left and went home. After a good night's sleep and panadol, ibuprofen and some codeine she has improved enough to where she can breath and talk more regularly.
I am a kidney transplant recipient who arrived unwell at Greymouth hospital wanting to see a professional doctor. I dutifully registered as an out of town patient. What I didn't expect was for the next 4 hours and 30 minutes I would have to wait and wait and watch patient after patient arrive for treatment and be discharged. I continued to sit and wait paitently after 4 hours the woman before me got up and left in disgust sick from the waiting. I approached reception to ask what was going on I was told the Doctor had left the building. I understand if its an emergency why he left but no explanation as to why he walked off the job???nOne star for the reception team at least they were courteous after the lengthy wait. In the meantime I will travell back to Christchurch for treatment thanks for nothing Greymouth hospital
Awful wait times constantly in ED and after hours doctors. No communication from staff leaving patients for up to 5 hours in ED waiting room unattended without even being seen to assess. People then sent home after 4 hours or longer as they would have to wait another 4 just yo be seen. About 8 of us left at the same time due to the hospital being so ridiculously understaffed. Have come back days later and it is even busier than before. Would give no stars if it weren't for some of the lovely staff here :/
