Wellington’s waterfront, known as the Harbour Front, is a vibrant and scenic area that beautifully blends natural beauty with the city's urban charm. Stretching from Queens Wharf to Oriental Bay, this area is ideal for a leisurely stroll, offering stunning views of the harbor and the surrounding hills. The waterfront is lined with cafés, restaurants, and public art installations, providing plenty of spots to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.nnOne of the highlights is the Wellington Waterfront Walk, which offers a pleasant route with plenty of green spaces and recreational areas. Visitors can also explore the Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa, located right along the harbor. The area is bustling with activity, from street performers to weekend markets, and hosts events and festivals throughout the year. Whether you're keen on sailing, dining, or simply enjoying the view, Wellington’s Harbour Front is a must-visit destination for all ages.
Clyde Quay Boat Harbour is a distinctive and scenic spot on Wellington's waterfront, known for its colorful boatsheds that are a visual trademark of the city.nnEstablished between 1901 and 1904 after land reclamation, it originally featured a mini-harbour protected by sea walls and breakwaters.nnOver the years, the harbour has evolved with additional buildings, including boatsheds from 1905 and 1922, and clubrooms like those of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club, which played a role during World War II when it was used by American marines.nnSituated between the Freyberg Pool and Clyde Quay Wharf apartments, and overlooked by Mount Victoria and St Gerard's Monastery, this heritage area offers a beautiful setting for a peaceful walk or a relaxing break on a sunny day.
Lovely, leisurely stroll with great ocean views all along the way. Cafes along the way and different things to see and explore. Saw lots of families enjoying the sun and beach. Spotted Thor’s hammer too!
An extremely beautiful and tranquil place to walk. Simply stunning. An extremely interesting place to have a quiet stroll on a beautiful Wellington Day. The harbour is truly stunning, and dotted with small eateries, restaurants, and things to do. Hire a bike or even a Kyack to see and more. Grab and ice cream and sit in the sun. Lots of places of local historical interest and the Wellington museum and National Museum Te Papa all with a few mile walk. Go for a jog along it to Oriental Parade. Highly recommended even on a windy day
A great walkway in Wellington CBD. You can via beach, museum, cafe, bar, boats. You can’t beat Wellington in a nice day.
