Absolutely recommended. I did the 45 minutes tour with Emma NZ$12. Fabulous! Thanks Emma tour guide for sharing your knowledge, your passion and your positive attitude along the tour. At the museum I learned so many interesting things about Wellington and it was a fun, useful experience where you can learn so many interesting stories from this part of the world.
So glad to have visited. It had a modern exhibition running at the same time and loads of interesting local historical information. Loved this museum more than I did Te Papa.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Great interactive museum, my son 6 years old had a really good time too. Nice exhibition about the history of the town.
A small, albeit a well-kept museum. Interior lighting and display of exhibits are good. Good value for time and money.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
I really enjoy history, therefore it is only natural that I also enjoy museums. While I have been to Te Papa, and absolutely enjoyed that behemoth of an experience, I really found this visit to be more intimate and personal. With many personal accounts and regular references to the people or whenua of the area, I found this experience to be very informative as well as breathtaking. I grew up in New Zealand, although down in the south island, but had been very aware of some of the significant events detailed here. The likes of the Wahine disaster, the Springbok anti-apartheid protests, and not forgetting the amazing mahi of Dame Whina Cooper, these displays made the stories very real and personal. Please visit this spot if you can, and perhaps throw a few dollars in the donation bin, there is a lot of aroha and history here. You will enjoy it.
It's nice learn about New Zealand's history. Staffs are very welcoming. Place are organized and clean.

It is nice to visit the museum, however it is in general a moderate one , allow 1-2 hours for a full visit. If you are driving, parking is a challenge and nearby parking is expensive.
A nice museum, not a big one, easy to see everything in 40 minutes. There are some beautiful Maori artworks. Free entry.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
