This place has a lot of positives but the few negatives are huge esp in a library setting.... NOISE could most certainly be better controlled in the areas where people are studying / doing assignments. Sometimes it does feel like it's a free for all which is not what library etiquette was like in my younger years. There was literally someone sitting and singing to music videos on his laptop in the study section - surely you'd think this would not be tolerated? The kids section's lovely upstairs, but I had kids playing hide and seek behind me in the study section ... It's a bit much at times. Miss the good old days when library's were these quiet, calm, peaceful places to get lost in your imagination.
It was lovely. I was able to purchase a snack if I was hungry, and the coffee was delicious. I was able to sit around the corner in private. Service was awesome. I left my bag behind, and when I made inquiries into my loss, a worker called me to inform me they had found my bag, I asked if I could arrange for pickup, and they agreed to help me out by handing it to courier driver. I am very much appreciated for their honesty and help. Thank you so much.
It is an excellent environment to be in. The staff are so helpful and supportive. the parking is convenient and manageable. the surrounding grounds are outstanding. Great there is a cafe right next to it for that coffee break after hours of study.
The best library in the whole Wellington region. Full of books, light and comfortable reading chairs and is well set out - easy to find your way around and read the various sections without having to crane your neck sideways like you do in the new Johnsonville library. Ambience is great. Relaxing place to spend an hour or two. Staff are friendly and very helpful. It's not just exclusively child-centric like the libraries in the WCC area tend to be, but understands adults need space too. We are Wellingtonians but come out to the Hutt library regularly to enjoy the books and the atmosphere. Beautiful outdoor surroundings - parks and HCC buildings.
Medium size library in the middle of Lower Hutt. Three floors. Ground floor for library, first floor for kids, second floor with desk and power points for studying/working. On Friday and Saturday there are activities for kids.nRecommend
