The place is great, with lots of restaurants around and an ATM about 50 metres away, right in front of a lagoon that connects to the sea. The rooms are excellent, everything really clean and tidy, with a comfy bed and duvet. The bathroom is super spacious, with plenty of room for your toiletries. The staff at reception are really friendly and give clear, straight‑to‑the‑point info when you ask anything. The shared kitchen is huge and well set up. The people staying there had such good vibes. I loved everything and it was definitely the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. If I ever go back to Tauranga, I’ll definitely stay there again.
A fantastic stay once again! Here’s why I keep coming back:n• Views: Incredible sea views right from the hostel.n• Atmosphere: Super nice staff and great facilities.n• Location: Perfect spot close to everything you need.nNote for guests: The parking area is about a 5-10 minute walk, which is manageable but good to know in advance. On weekends, the nearby pub can be a bit noisy, so pack some earplugs for a perfect night's sleep. Still one of the best hostels in the area. 100% recommended!
Me and my boyfriend stayed there for 2 months and we loved it. We had a double bedroom in the flat and the room was perfect. We had enough space for our luggage in the closet and a big bed. The small kitchen in the flat was nice and there was everything you need, even salt, pepper and sugar for free. The flat has their own living room with a TV and enough space to sit to watch a movie. There is a terrace too with some benches, which is very cozy for the summer nights to sit outside. The community/main kitchen upstairs had a beautiful view and lots of spaces for everything too.nThe hostel was always clean and they vacuumed and emptied our trash every day. The people at the reception were super nice and helpful with any problems that we had and tried really hard to help us with everything.nYou can spend the evening at the waterfront or in the hostel or in one of many bars around the hostel. The next bus station is a 5 min walk from the hostel and can take you to the Mount until the Bayfair mall too. Pak n save is only a 5 min bus right away too in the other direction.
I stayed for a week in a 4 bed dormitory room, the toilet and shower were inside the room so you don’t need to share them with bunch of people. The bed was a bit squeaky but other than that, everything was nice and comfortable! Room and kitchen are clean, I saw the staff cleaning the room, toilet, shower room and kitchen every morning. They maintain a high standard of cleanliness Plus all staff are nice and friendly, the best backpacker I ever stayed! The view from the kitchen was great too:
Hostel was very good and some aspects but there were parts I didn’t like so a bit of a mixed review. Dorms are more on the expensive side compared to what I’ve paid elsewhere throughout NZ but the hostel is very clean and has great facilities and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Nice sea views from the balcony and close to lots of bars and restaurants.nnThe atmosphere wasn’t great for people backpacking or travelling as the vast majority of people are long term residents, mainly European, working on local farms and they weren’t very sociable and tended to keep to their own little groups.
