Wanaka Rock Climbing was founded in Wanaka in 1998 and ever since we have been providing top quality guiding and instruction to travelling climbers as well as the local climbing fraternity.

At Wanaka Rock climbing we center our business around high quality instruction and guiding. For us this is the most valuable aspect of our product.

In the outdoor world quality is gained by experience and good training. All of Wanaka Rock Climbings guides are qualified through the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association and/or the New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Association.

Our guides have undergone standardised training at an industry level. Wanaka Rock provides professional development for our guides and expects they keep up a excellent level of personal interest and training.

Awesome experience,the guide was friendly,  knowledgeable, and found climbs well suited to our abilities and let us make the most out of day! Perfect for any level of climbing experience.

We had a really great day out with Llewellyn. We thought we would have to cancel due to the periodic rain showers but Llewellyn brought us to multiple really fun crags that stayed dry. He was totally flexible and accommodating. The provided lunch was also really delicious!

Our half day with Frankie as our instructor was one of the best bits of our trip to the South Island. She was a great teacher - able to give you the tips you needed while also not being overbearing and improving your confidence. The routes selected were a brilliant mix and in a very pretty spot. Thank you!

We had a great morning with Llew! He totally respected our wishes for climbing and routes and was an amazing guide. Totally worth to experience climbing if your new to it or like in our case didn’t bring all your own equipment anf just want to access the good spots quick with someone who knows the area by heart!

We had a great time with our guide Lew, very friendly and professional, he customized the day according to our wishes, do a multi pitch for our level and some single pitch climb to finish. Very cool experience, I recommend !

We had a great time rock climbing! Our guide was really caring with safety instructions, funny, informative and helpful with notions about climbing. Amazing experience, probably one of the best during our stay in NZ. Absolutely recommended!
