I have just received my 2nd hip replacement and want to share how wonderfully I was cared for at the hospital. The food was lovely - great choices - but more importantly the staff are dedicated, caring, and friendly. I particularly liked the care given to me by a trainee nurse, called Sosoo, who went over and above what I would ever have expected. Thank you,nMarilyn Olds
I am writing two reviews because my experiences in two different parts of the hospital were very different. I arrived at A&E by ambulance in the morning. Great assessment care provided, and I was admitted to HDU by mid afternoon. I spent several days in HDU, and was so impressed with all staff: drs, nurses, auxillary etc. I was kept informed at all times about my diagnosis and care. The food was also good for hospital food.. we are lucky to have such dedicated staff.
28.4.2023nnFirstly this concerns only the clerks that deal with the general public one that I observed tonight the 28.4.2023 : I accompanied a friend to the emergency room who was in extreme pain and needed to be seen immediately .nnHe was handed a form to fill out even though he could hardly concentrate with a spinal complication which I was assisting him with : he subsequently exited the building because he needed to lay horizontal as laying vertical increased the pain level which was a 10 the maximum pain level .nnI approach the clerk on tonight and her response was a laugh I said to her that man is in extreme pain and her exact response was a scoff and a laugh to the colleague next to her : this is the state of our health system in Masterton its ridiculous .nnI randomly was able to talk to a passing nurse and the ball started rolling and my friend who had been operated on recently was finally spoken too and seen by both a triage nurse and a doctor thereafter .nnThere are communication issues that exist here and matters of professionalism that need to be examined also this is not the first incident.nnAnother person had to be bleeding and walking around the E.R before staff reacted to the person whom was in shock which I explained to them 5 times before they reacted and acknowledged she was in shock ocured five months earliernnIn conclusion there are a number of different issues that exist not just with the masterton public health system but the health system in general we need more nurses and there needs to be closer vetting by the human resources department we need the right people in jobs here .nnI also acknowledge there is a shortage of nurses and its a pressurised environment this is the result of poor money management which points to both lower and upper level management being at fault there needs to be some changes and we need to up our game here big time for the whole countries sake for better health care and well being .nnRegards ,nn-Tane Marshall
I want to share my experience of having excellent care in my interactions with Wairarapa Hospital. From ED to surgical to rehabilitation. Over a wide variety of ailments. Hip and knee replacements, high blood pressure and migraines. With varying staff: nursing, orderlies, doctors and specialists. Thank you all very much.
Staff were great told me what was going on results of X-rays and blood test . Patient was transferred to Wellington hospital. They were very busy as usual but didn’t feel as though we were just one of a number. Thanks
