Absolutely stunning and beautiful course that proposes both challenges and enjoyment. It’s incredible scenic with very nice flora and fauna around the course. The staff were incredibly hospitable and the course was in mint condition. The food from the bar after our round was also incredibly delicious giving us something to look forward to after our round. This is an experience I will never forget and I hope I will be able to play this course again in my life.

Great ambience and great service   Also good food.  We pre booked and hired clubs and the female pro was very helpful choosing rental clubs. Great practice facilities.  Amazing wild life - three dears grazing near one tee. Another herd of 7-8 ran across course later.  Geese and other birds.  Lovely course.  Followed up by delicious fish and chips.  A great experience.

Is Wairakei New Zealand’s Augusta? It’s a luxurious golfing experience that leaves you feeling special and spoilt. Attention to detail is evidently important at Wairakei; the attention to detail that the team show to the guests and the attention to detail on the course, all world class. The visual beauty of the sanctuary continuously lulls you into a false sense of security, hiding the ongoing challenge of a brilliant, tough and testing meadowland layout. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are in excellent condition as one would expect on a world class facility such as this. The layout is generous, pulling you in to what you think are wide open spaces of closely cropped green turf, but smartly protected by well positioned fairway bunkers and contoured fairway cuts. Shots to the green need careful consideration as the green side bunkers are very well placed and not the easiest to get out of. If I have one criticism, it would about the inconsistency of the bunker sand that varied from hole to hole, making bunker play a bit of a gamble. The greens have little of the modern contouring, but certainly had very subtle breaks and nuances to keep you focussed. Good speed and a true roll rewarded positive putting. I do believe this is New Zealand’s Augusta and every golfer should have it on their bucket list. The very friendly team at Wairakei can be very proud of what they deliver here everyday. Thank you, that was outstanding!

Beautiful course,  great staff, made for a great day at Wairakei. Not the easiest course but not the hardest either. Enjoy the experience.

This is a beautiful golf course and the wildlife Sanctuary makes it a very unique and beautiful place to play golf.   The staff are great friendly and helpful.  The facilities are great.  I love the practice facilities and warm up areas.  Highly recommend it. I loved it and played a total of 9 rounds in 2 visits.

A truly magnificent golf course! Set in a wildlife sanctuary the course is in impeccable shape and a joy to play.  The staff are extremely friendly and upon checking in players can be provided‘customised’ score cards with course handicap, suggested tees and slope rating. A nice touch!    This was our second time playing and we chose to walk the course this time. Pace of play was perfect and walking gave us the chance to see the entire course in all its beautiful flora and fauna!   Certainly worth every penny!!!

Wairakei GC is an A+ experience. The staff are brilliant, the food was top notch and the golf course amazing. Could not fault the place. Steven Jessup is a brilliant coach.

Absolutely superb course.  Well appointed fast even greens, beautiful fairways, well supplied carts… the warm up area was stocked with a ton of balls to hit - even the warm up putting area was similar to the greens on the course which is awesome! This wasn’t much help to me unfortunately .  Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - efficient, and very friendly  Exactly what we wanted for a conference excursion.  Picturesque, quiet, with friendly deer - what wasn’t to love about this course?  Definitely a bucket list golf course to play on.  I’ll be back!

Course was in great condition. Staff must have worked hard to clean up after cyclone Gabriel. Super friendly staff both on and about the course as well as in the club house. Thanks for making the experience a memorable one.
