Another fantastic hidden gem. It's different because you can hike or drive your way around. Clean and welcoming. Many tranquil resting areas. Bring a picnic and a blanket. Great lake views. Free entry . Donations welcomed.
Lovely peaceful walks on easy forest paths, would also be good for kids to explore nature. Picked up a leaflet with map at the front entrance near toilet then drove to do different walks, which are clearly signposted. In March, rhododendron and camelias are only just budding, it must look amazing when they're all out - but we still enjoyed 2hrs here eating our sarnies and wandering, watching Fantails and Silvereyes bathing, and spotting NZ pigeon, Whiteheads, Tui and a Bellbird.
Beautiful gardens throughout & very well maintained. We found an impromptu tour guide that happened to be a local gentleman called Jeff from memory. Top bloke & he gave us a very comprehensive tour around the grounds & divulged a wealth of knowledge about the local flora & fauna . Yes indeed , wonderful
Beautiful rhododendron, Camilla & magnolias in bloom
Nice and very easy walk, many little loops link to main road, suites family activity and relaxing walk
