Das Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland ist ein Gebiet mit geothermischer Aktivität in Neuseeland.
Das Waiotapu Thermalgebiet entstand vor etwa 160.000 Jahren und liegt am Rand der riesigen Caldera, die vom Lake Taupo teilweise aufgefüllt wird. Das gesamte Gebiet ist übersät mit kollabierten Kratern, heißen und kalten Seen, Schlammtümpeln und dampfenden Fumarolen.
Besonders bemerkenswert sind die farbigen Ausfällungen von Mineralien, die das Gebiet als gelbe, orange, weiße, grüne, purpurne, rot und braune sowie schwarze Farbtupfer einzigartig machen.
Die beiden Highlights sind der Champagne Pool mit seinem orange leuchtenden Rand und der Lady-Knox-Geysir. Letzterer wird täglich um 10:15 Uhr mit Seifenflocken zum Ausbruch gebracht. Die Wasserfontäne ist bis 20 Meter hoch und der Ausbruch kann bis zu einer Stunde dauern.
